Carlsbad Art Wall July 2022
The 3rd mural of 2022 for the Carlsbad art wall, now the 8th year, was painted in mid-July by artist Matthew Perdoni, and it’s great fun. It took me a while to get by and take a photo but finally managed it. The sun was casting interesting shadows from a nearby palm tree of this whimsical mural capturing Carlsbad beach life.
The Carlsbad Art Wall was founded by well-known Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, in 2015, in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village. Bryan also founded the Carlsbad Alley Art Wall.
The Carlsbad Art Wall offers residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy temporary public art by local, regional, and sometimes international, artists.
The public also has the chance to watch the artists at work on their creations, typically over a 2-day period.
Even if you haven’t heard of the #CarlsbadArtWall, you’ve likely noticed the changing murals at Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant’s east-facing wall if you’re local or have visited the Village.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is west of the train tracks, across the street from the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center, as you head to the beach and is easy to spot.
Carlsbad’s reputation as an arts community continues to expand with abundant public art (interactive map on the City of Carlsbad website). Carlsbad has multiple art galleries, performance theater, several arts and crafts fairs, and live music events throughout the year. The Carlsbad Art Wall is a very special part of our vibrant arts community!
