Only the wisest achieve the latter."

Good morning, Thomas... after my first trip to Paris in 1980 all I wanted in life was to live in Paris. And I got to do just that about nine years later and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

Merveilleuse décision que vous avez prise !
I envy that decision Nina Hollander, Broker - although I did the same thing with San Diego. Vacationed here in July 2003-moved here 4 months later and that was 19 years ago! Great decisions contain risk - but what a payoff!

Good for you Lise Howe Long ago -I made a career change too, I realized my joy and followed it so I didn't regret being in the wrong career...like you did!

I had to smile about moving to where you want to be!  I did just that after college.  Traveled around the country for a few months, ended up in Vail and was offered a job! Went back to MN and said - I'm moving to CO.  What???  Nobody could believe it as I was planning on going back and finishing up my masters that fall.  All the new adventures continued on from there.... 🙂

Thomas- you're going to really think I've gone off the deep end... when I was a little girl, all I wanted was a working Dick Tracy watch. Fast forward to the Samsung watch. My husband knew that I'd wanted something like this since I was a kid so he offered to buy one for me. But no...I knew that Apple would soon have one so I waited. And it was worth waiting for the Apple Watch.

Kathy Streib - a great example of having a made-up mind on a goal and not letting anything distract you or take you off target! Nice share-thank you!

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker that's awesome and ironically I almost did that with Fort Collins, CO - what is it about Colorado?!? LOL.
I love hearing stories like yours and isn't it fun - the look on people's faces when you return from vacation and announce you're moving! I still think my Mom expects me to return to The Bay Area any day now - for 19 years and counting 😂

Hey Thomas that's interesting that you almost did that in Fort Collins.  The job I was offered was working for Eagle County and CSU so I spent time up in Fort Collins for work.   OMG when I got back they thought i was off my rocker. We took this picture and  when I got back to MN I told everyone I'm moving to No Name Colorado!  LOL!  There actually is a tiny bitty town with that name on the way into Glenwood Springs!!

Hi Thomas,
This is a Pondertunity if there ever was one, don't you think Michael Jacobs ?

I've discovered the most important things I've wanted and achieved aren't things so much as inner satisfaction and the lessons that came with that.  I've written about this before, but I remember losing a particular State sewing contest. I came in 2nd place and that wasn't good enough for me. The next year I vowed to win 1st place, so I chose a particularly difficult pattern and made it perfect. I not only won the state championship but the national championship as well. That lesson has been valuable throughout my life on many levels.

Learn To Dance In The Rain

All I ever wanted since I was 3 years old was to become a Ballerina.  I achieved my dream 13 years later, dancing the Black Swan in Swan Lake, the Sugarplum Fairy in Nutcracker, and the lead in Giselle. Then I became a dancer on Princess Cruise lines after auditioning with 800 other hopeful dancers! Performing nightly in front of 2400 passengers was amazing, as well as traveling the world 3 times. So, YES, definitely-I enjoyed achieving my goals!

Hello my love, Ailina Nelson I know you've set major goals and made major career changes because of them, you always set a great example of setting the goal, determination to achieve it, putting in the work necessary to accomplish it and then enjoying it. I think some people forget to enjoy their accomplishments, they move on too quickly to next goal - good job celebrating along the way - it keeps you motivated!
