THE HISTORY OF THE DARCY
The Darcy at 7171 Woodmont Ave Bethesda was built by PN Hoffman and Stonebridge Carras. Other projects that PN Hoffman and Stonebridge Carras has built include Chevy Chase Point, Chevy Chase Center, the Edgemoor Condominium, and Two Bethesda Metro Center. Monty Hoffman, chief executive of PN Hoffman, called the location “the corner of Main and Main.”
The Darcy is named for the founder of the downtown Bethesda business district – William E. Darcy. In 1862, this shopkeeper and farmer opened the first general store in the area, at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Wisconsin Avenues. He was also postmaster of the area that was known as Darcy PO until Bethesda was established in 1871.
NEAR THE DARCY IN DOWNTOWN BETHESDA
Everything that you want or need is right outside your door. If you would rather get in a run or a long bike ride, the Capital Crescent Trail literally is right outside your door. SALES HISTORY AT THE DARCY

One was a 2309 square foot condo with three bedrooms, two and a half baths and a condo fee of $2170. It sold for $ 1875000 in July 2021. The other that sold was a 2090 square foot two bedroom two bath unit with a condo fee of $2010.73. It sold in July 2021 also.By late summer 2022, four units had sold at the Darcy. The most expensive one to sell was Unit 506, a two bedroom, two and a half bath unit with 2361 square feet. It originally listed for $1,643,000 and sold for $1,580,000 with a price per square foot of $669.21. Other units sold for $625,000 for a one bedroom, one bath, $670,000 for a small two bedroom, two bath (883 square feet) and $840,000 for a two bedroom, two bath unit with 1140 square feet.
SCHOOLS
The Darcy is in the BCC school cluster. Students attend Bethesda Elementary, Westland Middle School and Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.
