Reading has a multitude of benefits. Fiction can unlock your imagination and skyrocket your creativity. While non-fiction introduces you to new ideas and new ways of being. For me, reading has been the #1 reason I've been able to grow my business and do things I never thought possible.
And yet, once you're out of the reading habit it can be difficult to jump back in. If you're feeling this way lately, here are a few quick tips to help:
1. Remember Why You Love Reading
For me, it's the feeling of escape or growth that I can't find anywhere else. I also realize that if I want my kids to become readers, I must model that for them. (Here's a great list of books for 5 year olds if you're trying to get young ones to read).
2. Gather Lots of Books
I'm not always in the mood to read the same things. But when I have multiple books to pick from I'm MUCH more likely to choose a book or a tv show I don't care about.
*Bonus tip: Put these books near your bed, on your dining room table, or somewhere else you'll see them often.
3. Do a Challenge
Participate in a book club or start a challenge with a friend. I did a year-long challenge a few years ago that jumpstarted my reading habit again. There's nothing like a little accountability to help you follow through.
What about you? Have you been reading and learning as much as you want to be lately? What could you do to read a little more often? After all, knowledge is power friend.
