It's 105° in Stanislaus County - Head west to cool off!

The summer in Stanislaus County and all of the Central Valley of California can get hot. We are currently in the middle of several days of 100° (and more) temperatures. On days like this it's best to find some place air conditioned or hang out at the pool. However there are other options when you live in  Stanislaus County.

Stanislaus County Day TripsYou can always head west to cool off.  It's a trip my wife and I will make often in the summer time.  Heading over to the coast is always an enjoyable break from the valley heat.  An easy day trip west to places like, San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel will do the trick.

It's less than 100 miles away but it can be 30° to 40° cooler.  We made the trip Stanislaus County Day Tripsyesterday while it was 104° here in our hometown of Ceres, in Monterey it was 67°.  Monterey and Carmel are world famous for their beauty, good food and fun things to do.  Yesterday was the weekly farmers market in downtown Monterey. This Stanislaus County Day Tripsparticular farmers market is every Tuesday evening from 4pm to 8pm in downtown Monterey.  (There's a farmers market every day of the week in the area)

The Monterey Farmers Market has a wide selection of local produce including several different kinds of berries, Stanislaus County Day Tripscherries, peaches, nectarines, pluots and lots lots more.  After picking up some blackberries (that will end up in a pie) and some strawberries and checking out all that the market had to offer it was time for some food.

It's a short walk from the farmers market to Old Fisherman's Wharf.  There are several very good restaurants on the wharf with some of the freshest seafood around.  On this trip we chose to have some Stanislaus County Day Tripsseafood at Old Fisherman's Grotto on the wharf.  We have been there many times and it's always good. This time was no exception.

One of the great things about living here in Stanislaus County is that we are so close to so many world class destinations.  So when the summer heat gets to be a bit too much we just jump in the car and head west to a cool destination.

The entire southwest has experienced extremely hot temps.  Here in NW AZ, Mohave County, I believe we had at least 14 days of 100 plus temps. This week we have dropped to the high 90's with a few spikes into the low 100's.

I hear you on this subject Jim!  Right now we've cooled down and we're getting a lot of rain and will continue to do so for several days or more.   What we do to get out of the summer heat is head up to  Northern AZ, either in Prescott or Flagstaff.  Always much cooler and pleasant - ahhhhhh!

It's gorgeous here right now Jim. Cloudy and expecting rain all weekend, in the low 90's.  Humid, yes but everything smells so good outside.  We're almost on the other side of the heat zone!
