Getting Back to the Basics - Or At Least Asking Google!
I met with a newer agent this week, struggling a bit with her career and lack of support. I tried to gently push her in directions where she can (1) add to her knowledge, as well as (2) get support.
My daughter - always sacrilegious - used to laughingly tell me I was very good at the "air of authority". I'll admit it, as a newbie I struggled to be competent, appear knowledgeable, and avoid that dreaded question, "How long have you been in Real Estate?" So -- I drew on my drama background and strove to act the part.
Thankfully, after 17 years I no longer need to "act" but I have learned that we always have to keep learning. And changing. And adapting.
There isn't really a secret to becoming successful. You can Google tips and watch seminars and read books and follow your broker and truly, if you do the formula you have been told works, it WILL work. Always they say it's a numbers game. Most of the webinars and classes I attend are versions of the processes I was taught in the beginning.
I read a teaser headline a few moments ago about getting back to the basics. Tying your shoes. HA!
But you know it's true. We can't run without that foundation.
So I recommend to newer agents, agents in slumps, folks battling personal challenges while having to work -- WHATEVER your situation: Get back to the basics. If you don't know the basics, Google is at your fingertips.
Effort is everything. Getting out there is everything. Good luck.
