Lake Havasu City began with one man's dream (sprinkled with a massive dose of business acumen)and that turned into the oasis in the desert we know today. Millions of people come from far and wide to play out on our lake each and every year. Following safety protocols helps keep injuries to a minimum while in, on, or above the water. Life jackets play a huge part in keeping everyone safe. But last year's model may not fit so well this year. If you find that to be the case right now, then you're in luck. The Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange takes place this weekend!

Every watercraft must provide one properly-sized lifejacket for each member on board. If your children (or yourself) have outgrown a life jacket or two, come to the Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange on Sat, Aug 27th, 2022 to find just the right size to fit your needs.

Summer may be coming to an end, but the fun on the lake continues for many more weeks to come. That means several more weeks of boating, jet skiing, Sea Do-ing (is that a word?), and more. The law requires that all watercraft provide one properly-sized life jacket for each person on board.

The Mohave Sheriff's Division of Boating Safety partnered up with the state's Game and Fish Department to bring the bi-annual life jacket exchange program to Lake Havasu City. All you have to do is bring your old life jackets down to the stage at London Bridge Beach between 10 am and 12 pm. Unfortunately, the old orange Type II life jackets will not be accepted as part of the exchange. I highly suggest that you get there as early as possible, though. Once supplies run out, they will no longer be exchanging jackets, even if they run out before the two hours is up. And that happens sometimes. So, plan on showing up early. As the sheriff's office likes to say "boat safe, boat smart, boat sober, and always wear a life jacket".
