We love old houses. Their walls hold memories, good and bad, of those who came before. Although those memories can be precious, sometimes in order to get the best out of a house, the energy needs to be swept clean. The house needs a "reboot". To be clear though, these old houses can be the devil to Feng Shui. It's not always easy.
To make a Feng Shui assessment we need a date that the house was built and a compass point facing direction. With an old house, that can get complicated.
It's sometimes tough to find the true history; and without that history, figuring out the chart is very difficult. Looking at the past owners and how they lived can give us a good idea of the houses' personality. Looking for patterns will give us clues. Sometimes you have to guess until you're sure. That means trying out various cures and situations.
Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it's more of a puzzle. For example; Was the house ever empty for an extended period? Was the roof ever removed and replaced? How about additions? When were those done and how extensive was the remodeling? So many things can happen to change things, we have to be very careful when determining the correct chart.
I always did love a puzzle. Once you find the personality of your home and figure out how to get the best out of it, you can live a lot more peacefully as well as profitably.
Feng Shui is a little more complicated than it seems.
Like life, right?
