I am a project girl.
I am a project girl. I like a goal, a challenge, a list to cross off. I have a lot of energy and need something to keep me focused.
A few years ago I endeavored to be selected for the Master Chef tv show. I have tried out 3 times. After my second try with no success- I decided to take the Master Chef cookbook and and bake or cook every recipe in it. That was going to be my hook! I made it through the entire cookbook-- over 100 recipes, posted and documented on facebook and Instagram. I made many things that I never would have attempted and it was a fun learning experience, but I still didn't make it on the show. For me- the process and the feeling of accomplishment was the important part.
When I was in school the teachers would offer extra credit for students to catch up, raise their grade, go from a C+ to a B. I was the first one to dive in to complete the project, not just complete it, but smash it. I would do so much my class average would be beyond 100%... the extra credit offerings were clearly not for me. But I couldn't wait to take them on.
This summer I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and have been undergoing biopsies and tests for the last several months. I needed a project to keep me sane and creative... so I turned to my art.
In July I found a challenge on the TheyDraw.com website with summer food as the subject. Here is a collage of those drawings!
In August I I did a painting a day using the prompts I found at Doodlewash.com. #doodlewashaugust2022. They were random summer subjects and I followed a circular theme. I posted them above. My favorite was the prompt for Courage.
This month I have chosen a fun challenge on Instagram called #Cattember, with prompts by @beverlylove. Yes, just what you thought... a CAT prompt a day all month. Here is one of my first posts for Siamese, my cat Tonto!
You can follow along with all the cats on Facebook or Instagram! Next month I'm thinking of doing #Birdtober! Any of my fellow artists out there... please join in and let me know if you do. I will keep you posted!
