In Remembrance  Isolation Lost

Today is a day of remembrance for the events of September 11, 2001 as our country which had such a sense of safety lost its innocence to a well-designed and financed attack that brought us into the reality that we are vulnerable.  Across the globe, people have lived with the reality that they could be attacked across borders.

As we are a large part of the North American continent, we never had a fear from our neighbor to the north, nor to the south.

That no longer exists as we found out and that plan was almost completed to perfection.

In Remembrance Isolation Lost

Flags across our country fly at half-mast today in remembrance for the almost 3,000 lives lost in the 4 plane hijackings.

It changed the way we live, and travel will never be the same.

It woke us from our naivete that we were so well protected from our isolation to the rest of the world. But the world came to us to retaliate for some misguided sense of anger.

We have come to accept the extra precautions for travel s well as the idea of being ever vigilant for prole that may be contemplating similar actions .

We have a second day that will live in infamy and hopefully our loss of innocence will protect us in the future.

HI Ed- it is so important that we remember and we learn from what happened. This is why that no matter how much time passes, we must teach our children about that day.

Good morning, Ed... we have never been as isolated as we like to think. 9-11 underscored that in a big way and hopefully some of our naivete is gone forever.

Hi Ed,
We need to be mindful that we have a generation entering adulthood who weren't even born when 9/11 happened. It is our job to educate them and the consequences of not doing so.

It was horrifying to watch again yesterday scenes from that day 21 years ago. And in reverence we remembered all those people and families, including a few folks we know here that were there on that day.  Thankfully they got out.  As for remembering I am concerned about our open borders and there is no accounting for who's coming into our country.  Since we are a border state we experience droves and droves of people coming into our state every day.  Many come across and escape, totally unknown -Upwards of 1M so far this past year.  Where are they, why did they  have to 'sneak' into the country and what are they up to other than drugs? Time will tell.

Hi Ed:

I wasn't online much on 9-11 a week ago so I missed this. What a heartfelt testimonial to that horrific day...I don't know that the memory will ever truly fade.
