The subject line in your email makes SUCH a difference, especially when you are trying to secure new business.   I know I have changed my subject line when sending out e-newsletters in hopes of grabbing more of my clients to read it!

What happens when you get an email --- YOU ARE DOING IT ALL WRONG!

I almost laughed out loud when I read this.   Do they think they will grab more REALTORS by this subject line?    Who knows what they were trying to sell, as it went STRAIGHT into my spam folder and blocked future emails.

Have to say, when I send emails out to anyone, the subject line is positive as many times as possible.    Lots of times with clients we have a whole conversation back and forth with many emails, and the subject line remains the same.  I definitely don't want that subject line to be negative.

Have you gotten this same email?

Paula McDaniel I took offense to it, and in no time, deleted it.   Thinking that wasn't the response they were expecting, but should have thought about how the recipient was going to take that subject line!

Scott, there are times, it is pretty funny to see what people actually send.

I've read never to use all caps, plus don't use exclamation points. I'd love to see what we should use instead to grab someone's attention, although most of my emails go to people I know.

Pat, I sometimes use exclamation points, but definitely use a subject line that reflects the message I am trying to send.

Dear Joan,

If you were doing it all wrong, you would never have gotten this far. Everyone in Real Estate has to find their own style. I have had colleagues, who yell at their clients or use high pressure sales tactics. That would never work on anyone I work with, even if it works for them.

Dorte Engel I agree with you, everyone has their own style, and WOULD NEVER send an email out with this subject line!

I would have just ignored it.  Our emails need to be on topic especially if we want the receiver to read it

Ed, they do need to be specific, or our clients would ignore us too!

Positive is always better than negative. They sure do come up with what they think are creative subject lines. Most are just annoying!!

Joan Cox I have not received this email...but many just like it. Crazy that we have salespeople who think they are going to sell us with this technique. Yikes.

Debra, it was definitely eye-catching, but not what I would call inviting!

Jeff, not sure why that sender actually thought that subject line would work!

Good point. I find myself not reading emails as frequently as I used to. Becoming more in tune with texts. It seems my clients are in the same frame of mind in most cases. Texts seem to be preferred.

Michael Layton I do too in most cases, but with our business, sometimes information must be done for a paper trail.

Good morning Joan. If the subject line does not grab me, the "delete" button gets used. Too many solicitations to read them all. Time is money. Enjoy your day.

If I read all the emails I get (and NextDoor) I would be 1. too busy to do any work and 2. too scared to get out from under my bed.  I agree with you about these subject lines.
