When we found our home at 13402 Staffordshire Place, we were attracted to the deck and the open view.  We were looking for a home suitable for a dog and the low maintenance fenced-in backyard seemed perfect for a dog.   When we went for a walk after viewing the house and realized how close the lake was and all the walking paths, we were sold. We love about our home is BBQing and sitting on our deck during the summer, exercising in our finished basement and walking along the paths to either the nearby soccer field or nearby lake. In Churchill/Waters Landing, our neighborhood is great for friendly neighbors and living an active lifestyle.  There is a nearby soccer field and park where people play and have picnics.  There are also sometimes community events at the soccer field.  You will always find someone out walking, either by themselves, with a friend, their family or a dog along the various paths in the community.   The lake paths are especially popular during the weekend. Some of the things we love about living in Germantown, is the diversity of the community, the feeling of being in a small town within a big suburban area and the proximity to various things.  We can easily get to BWI or Dulles airport for traveling.  We can take the MARC train into DC.  We can drive into DC for various events.  Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are Yuan Fu and &pizza.  Admittedly we don't eat out much but both Wegman's and Whole Foods offer convenient foods when you don't want to cook. The grocery store we use is Wegman's most of the time with occasional trips to Lotte for international foods and Whole Foods.  There are multiple Giant stores and they are also great for a quick trip.      We moved to Montgomery County because it was convenient for our work locations but we fell in love with Blackhill park and lake.  The hiking, kayaking and biking in Montgomery County is great as well.  The various county parks have events and classes throughout the year as well as the Montgomery County recreational center.   The location also provides ease of access to other great outdoor activities throughout Maryland including Sugarloaf Mountain and the C&O canal. In Germantown, there is a really good library which is part of a greater library system.  The library system has the ability to do interlibrary transfers as well as a large catalog of e-books and audiobooks. There is plenty of close convenient shopping including Target, Walmart, Kohl's and other stores.   There is a great campground which friends/family can come visit or even for a quick weekend getaway. Beyond having a MARC station stop, the Shady Grove metro stop is not too far away with plans to bring the Red Line into Germantown, just a couple blocks over from our house.
