Our role as a Realtor!

By
Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate Inc 610-225-7400 PA License - AB067198

Many people view our role as a Realtor simply as a door opener. How wrong they are. As I read Buzz Mackintosh post this morning Down to the Wire  I realized it is often Realtors who are the ones speaking up and letting people know when and where their property rights are being infringed. Please take a moment to read his post, it is excellent.

It is Realtors who speak up to get Flood insurance protection plans passed in congress. It is Realtors who speak up and stand against municipalties who try to block sales of properties with onerous requirements that are costly to home owners through Use and Occupancy inspections and block the issuance over small items from being issued.

It is Realtors who proposed sensible systems for sidewalks and lateral sewer inspections, rather than having these only be done for point of sale, which misses most of a township.

No, we are far more than just a door opener, and we need to be more vocal about what we do, even in and during a transaction. We often are the ones who notice things going astray due to a mortgage lender not understanding a contract and not meeting deadlines. We often understand and keep our clients in compliance with a contract with inspections, due diligence or obtaining finance and making deposits in time.

Every state is different, some have "time is of the essence" clauses, some do not. We help clients moving or relocating from other states to understand their responsibilities so they do not end up in breach of the contract.

But, we often also speak out about property rights, standing up for the home owners who probably do not understand what is being proposed by politicians and how it will impact them.

So, don't keep quiet, speak out and let everyone know what we do and how we protect their rights. It is not always about the next dollar earned, it is about protecting our clients and potential clients from being harmed.

If you are looking to relocate to the Main Line area and Chester County area, or simply sell or purchase property give me a call. Realtor's get it done to prevent or promote, behind the scenes, as well as, face-to-face, Nick. Fantastic post that touts Realtor's!

Unfortunately Nick, we have met too many of those who have no idea who they are even representing! They cross the line on many different levels.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - Bravo to you and Buzz Mackintosh for emphasizing the importance of a REALTORS voice and what it does to the community and the city and  state in which they live. Because without a realtor voice, the challenges are many and citizens can be harmed irreparably. Both of your posts deserved to be FEATURED on their own merits, in your names, as if it is your birthright on ActiveRain. The fluffy feeling posts are nice once in a while, but this is a Real Estate Platform where originality, without plagiarism, and the VOICE of the REALTORS could be heard and inspired by others. I applaud both of you.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! so often we do what we do behind the scenes, we need to be more vocal about what we do and why.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 unfortunately we all have that problem. I always tell new agents the worst part of the job is usually the agent on the other side, but most of those bad agents get out when the going gets tough.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP thank you, I agree and we need to let the public know what Resaltors do on their behalf so they understand everything we do and why.

What an excellent post and should be featured. You are so right what we do as Realtors is not always about the next dollar earned, it is about protecting our clients and potential clients from being harmed.

Hi Nick- agents are like "boots on the ground"...every day you are out in the field speaking with sellers, buyers, builders, etc. And what happens impacts the community. I love what Buzz Mackintosh has been doing and his presentation and posts have been so informative.

When we as realtors connect to what the buyer or seller values and sometimes they haven't externally communicated what they truly value such as knowledge about flood plains and insurance costs, we demonstrate our worth.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX if only the publis really knew what we did I think they would value us much more. That is what I think NAR should be promoting.

Kathy Streib so true, and we are the ones who know which townships are difficult to deal with in issuing U&O certs. Thank you for the featured post. Always appreciate your promotion.

Grant Schneider that is very true.

Wayne Martin it is getting them to realize we are a trusted advisor and value our true worth.

Leanne Smith and that we often get by listening, not talking.

Jeff Dowler, CRS thank you, we need to promote our role in the community more, our charitable work etc.

Laura Cerrano integrity can not be bought, it is priceless, and something we need to focus on.

Ed Silva we do the same in PA, with realtors going in to meet the legislature and present our talking points on whatever legislation is being proposed.
