ARE YOU READY?

ARE YOU READY?

The American Public Health Association has deemed this day to call attention to their Get Ready Campaign

You may think that this applies only to those in a hurricane, flood, earthquake, or tornado area. However, it never hurts to be prepared for any disaster or event in your community that could occur.

Remember 2020 and the virus?  Many stores were closed and supplies were limited or totally out.

Who wants to be down to their last roll of toilet paper? Clorox, soaps, peanut butter, and other staples were in big demand.

While there’s no need to hoard, it’s a good time to review your supplies.

Some items you might want to have…

Non-perishable food items

First aid supplies

Cleaning products

Water

Think about what you didn’t have when you had to stay at home in 2020 or what was hard to purchase that you really needed!

It’s also a good time to…

-Know where your documents are (wills, medical information, insurance policies, etc)

-Back up documents

-Check batteries and flashlights

Every family has different needs, so ask yourself these questions…

-When the Pandemic hit in 2020, what did I NOT have but needed and couldn’t purchase?

-What would I need if I could not leave my home for several days?

|
-What would I need to take with me if I had to leave my home for 1,2,3 days or more?

-Have I made a ToGo back for every member of my family?

Make a To Go Box

None of this takes time and it will give you some peace of mind!

A soon to be sunny good morning. We added some shelves to a broom closet to store some extra "food," first add supplies, paper goods etc. This mini-pantry has items that were difficult to find during the last pathogen. We also have a generator in case the power goes out as well.

Good morning Kathy,

Always better to be safe than sorry! It doesn't take long to ensure you have plenty of supplies without hoarding.

As I always say, you never want to be all wiped out of toilet paper (pun intended).

I don't stock up as much as people who know me would believe. I should be better prepared.

We did just create a revocable trust and it came with a notebook that will hold copies of all important documents though. Having it all in one place will make it much easier for, not only us but, our children if anything happens to us.

Kathy COVID was an eye opener for many on how quickly supplies can disappear nationwide.

Kathy, it does pay to be ready for any disaster - look at what the hurricane did to Puerto Rico?

Nina Hollander, Broker you and I are definitely two peas in a pod. My family laughed at me, but everything I needed. Outside of perishables that I couldn't stock, I had what I needed.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 when word spread that stores might close, I happened to stop at our store after our morning walk...like I do almost every morning. There were no grocery carts available...the aisles were full of people in line. I put my items up and left.

Kat Palmiotti I'll bet with your winters, you're pretty prepared.

Wayne Martin there are still some products that I cannot find. Not sure if they stopped production because of covid or what.

Hi Ed Silva I have basics like flour, sugar, pasta  and other staples.

Leanne Smith I always had a stocked pantry but in 2020 made sure I had some extra flour, sugar, etc. If push came to shove, we'd always have homemade bread!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I also tried to stock some extra hand sanitizer for my family who had to work outside the home.

Brian England having lived most of my life in hurricane areas, I learned to be prepared.

Grant Schneider I think having gone through 2020, many people are more aware of what they need to keep at home, just in case.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty that was a good one!!!  TP was the hardest because I had towels etc for cleaning but it's hard to find a replacement for  TP!!!

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 when we lived in FL we always stayed in our home during the hurricanes. However, if we had to evacuate, I assembled a box for each of us. But it doesn't take a hurricane. What if you had to leave your community because of an emergency in your area?

good for you Sharon Tara Most people have the documents but aren't sure where they are.

Will Hamm  I'm sure it's harder for families but even things like peanut butter or pasta are things that are easy to store and not too costly.

George Souto absolutely. There are some items that are still hard to find or that are no longer made.

Joan Cox I know. They really got hit. Supplies are on the way.
