Philadelphia Steals & Deals Happy Fall by HelpfulHannah

Happy Fall Everyone! Some of you are wondering what happened to Philadelphia Steals & Deals. Some of you could not care less. Well for those of you who missed me the truth be told I was enjoying the three S's - socializing sunshine and swimming. At the time I was not, I was out there working selling and listing Real Estate but I did do some shopping but mostly in small local boutiques and online. I found most of the big brand stores had inventory from years past nothing new.

Just recently I shopped at a small boutique that has shoes and specialty clothes. Called "Hot Foot" and they carry clothes called "Talk of the Walk"  The owner told me there would be a shortage again this year of newer fashion items. What they did have would be very expensive. So her advice was to buy now as inventory would be low.

When I went into stores many shelves were empty or they had old items stocked. Usually, Fall items are plentiful this time of year, but if you look and know your fashion many of the items are from previous years;

Gas prices have come down but food prices are still high.

There was some eating out with friends and now I have to watch my weight because I overindulged but honestly it was great fun.

Fall plants are on my shopping list, especially mums. So far places that had great prices last season were disappointing this season

Real Estate is still a seller's market. The market has just slowed down.

Hello Hannah - it seems that your "s" break was sensational.  Kinda reminds me of the Gershwin song 'S Wonderful.  Link provided for those unfamiliar with the tune.

Hannah shortages and high prices seem to be the theme for the last year and a half.

George Souto, It certainly has ! I am not sure that raising interest rates is going to solve the problems. I know some people who are buying their food on credit.

The cost of pet food has certainly gone up as well.  I hope you have a pleasant weekend, Hannah.

Myrl Jeffcoat, I did read that there may be another pet food shortage in the future I am hoping this is not true.

Hannah- well, I've been waiting for your Steals and Deals to return!!! I've noticed our gas prices down as well but you're right...I see food prices still rising.  Welcome Back.

Hello my dear Kathy Streib I am glad to be back. Finding deals, however, may not be so easy. I usually find some of the best deals in September and I am finding many bare shelves. We shall see.

Some of the food prices are shocking.

Costco prices now need to be compared with the local grocery stores.

Roy Kelley I hear tell they are saying raising interest rates may help food prices.  I do hear from many that they are paying for their food with credit cards that will have higher interest rates

Hannah Williams - I hope your break was productive and relaxing. Sometimes, you have to make yourself a top priority and think of yourself as your #1 Client who needs to be 100% satisfied.

These are crazy times. After the pandemic and masks came off here in TX (long before many other states) I noticed stores were not crowded, too many empty shelves, old and expired products (both edible and non-edible). Local business owners suffered a lot! As time went by, they got stocked up again but I'm noticing the quality of clothing is just not there and the prices are high.

I think it pays to look for steals and deals. As survivors, we have to be thrifty and smart. I wish you all the very best.
