Technology can be our friend and at times it might be our foe.
I have been having some technological challenges lately, my HP LaserJet printer stopped communicating with my Lenovo Yoga Pro Laptop about six weeks ago. I spent hours with tech support and my own tinkering. Well, the sad story is, my perfectly good Wireless Laser Jet Color printer has stopped getting extra support to communicate with my Microsoft Windows 8 Laptop. They have some fancy words for the technical term, something about the drivers; the bottom line is that the printer is not connected to the network anymore.
Now my Lenovo Laptop started giving me notices, that Microsoft will not be supporting Windows 8 at the end of the year. On a side note, periodically my laptop just shuts off unexpectedly, hence I am obsessively and compulsively saving every word I write.
Anyway, not wanting to delve on this, the bottom line is, I will need a New Printer and a New Laptop soon for my convenience and for running my Real Estate business efficiently.( Clearly it is intentionally done by the software and hardware companies, but that is another post).
Moving on, two days ago I was spending excessive amount of time writing up three offers, both the Zip Forms program and DocuSign platform were on the fritz. I was quite stressed and upset, but I kept remind myself, that I remember the days when I sat face to face with buyers and sellers writing up the offers and the listings. How many hours did it take to do that? Then how thrilled I was when fax machines came on the horizon and ultimately, I did not need to run to the office or to the nearest Staples 24 hr. store to send my offers and my listing documents. Then how exited I was when the advent of scanners came on the market. Now I still have these memories, just having a hard time coming to terms with what needs to get done now. Diane complains that I take too long to upgrade. Well my answer is if it works why upgrade?
I will have to write another post about my dependence on technology, this happened today, and I am still having a hard time digesting it before I write a post about it.
