WHY NOT VISIT ONE OF CHARLOTTE'S MANY MUSEUMS ON MUSEUM DAY TODAY?

“A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.”

... Maira Kalman

What does visiting museums do for you? Museums help people learn. Museums inspire people. Museums provide a great excuse to spend time with friends and family in a positive way. Museums help foster an understanding off history  and culture (past and present. Museums connect people with their communities through special programs.

“If you really want to seriously think about life, and therefore take painting very seriously… and take seriously the joys that it can bring to one, then you want to go to museums. You want to study the greats of the past.”

  ... Nelson Shanks

Did you know... it's estimated that there are some 35,000 museums in the USA? For a list of museums by state, click here.

"A country that has few museums is both materially poor and spiritually poor …
museums, like theatres and libraries, are a means to freedom.”

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... I've read that going to museums is healthy psychologically... that's probably why when you go you get that sense of peace.

Heading to a museum is such a wonderful adventure.  We have one museum with a lot of local history, and is fascinating to check out.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS good morning, Paul... when I lived virtually across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art on NY City's Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue, I often popped over on a Sunday just to spend an hour looking at something. You don't need to spend an entire day wandering around... you can just focus in on something interesting for an hour or so.

Hannah Williams good morning, Hannah... I hadn't heard of your strike by museum workers. While I've been to Philadelphia any number of times (many years ago), I never did get to the museum. Our granddaughter just moved to Philadelphia last month.

Endre Barath, Jr. hi Endre... when I lived in NYC literally around the corner from Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue I used to pop in and out on a regular basis. Haven't done much of that in Charlotte because I need to get into a car and drive 30-40 minutes to go to one and then park, etc. So it requires more planning and isn't as spontaneous. When I'm in St Petersburg in Russia I'm in and out of all sorts of museums. Last time I was there in 2019 I went to the Faberge Museum for the first time and it was beyond fabulous.

Hi Nina,
I had no idea there were so many museums in the Charlotte area. So much variety! I went to the Golf Hall of Fame when I was in St. Augustine, Florida last Fall. That was amazing.

We have a nice museum in Wenatchee. I haven't been for many years, and I was just thinking the other day that I'd like to take my brother and his wife when they come to visit in late October.
