Hello October
One Mo Time. . .
Recently, I finished a book written by Mo Rocca. Titled Mobituaries Great Lives Worth Reliving, it is co-authored by Jonathan Greenberg. It provides an opportunity to glean a different perspective when looking beyond an obituary.
Although well-researched, each chapter is a relatively quick read with stories of famous people from many parts of history to others who are less known.
While I finished reading the book in September, it also seems like a good way to introduce October. Understandably, an obituary can put us in a somber mood. However, it can also be a time where other thoughts come forth. The book is far from fussy (I realize the subject may not be the right fit for everyone) but I believe it is appropriately respectful.
And isn’t that the spirit we can use in any month even when ghouls, ghosts and goblins do not hold a special connection?
That dash we use to punctuate those moments between birth and death represent a much larger story. In my opinion, this book is a nice addition to looking beyond the dashes in life.
Happy October.
