If there's one thing that can't not be present in the fall season, it's pumpkin! You can put it in your dishes, in desserts, and even in your drinks. And what a great way to get pumpkins by visiting the nearby pumpkin patches in the DC Metro area, which we have an abundance of. If you're still wondering which pumpkin patches to go to this autumn, here are some of the best ones out there:

Cox Farms - Centreville, VA
Cox Farms Fall Festival's joyful madness is returning! Cox is one of the biggest and greatest autumn festivals of the year, with a corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, slides, rope swings, and more. Cox Farms is the destination for you if you enjoy a pumpkin farm with added activities.

Great Country Farms - Bluemont, VA
Great Country Farms' annual Fall Pumpkin Harvest Festival offers a whole month of family-friendly entertainment. Explore the 5-acre play area, choose your favorite pumpkin from the patch, get lost in the corn maze, and more. On the weekends, enjoy live entertainment while roasting marshmallows and shooting pumpkin cannons. The corn maze will celebrate apples and cider in 2022.

Butler’s Orchard - Germantown, MD
Visit Butler's Orchard to find the highest-quality pumpkin this fall. The farm hosts a variety of activities, including festival campfires, private bonfires, and hayrides. While engaging in enjoyable activities with family and friends, you can choose your own pumpkin.

Sharp's at Waterford Farm - Brookeville, MD
There are nine pumpkin-themed open house events held on this 530-acre working farm throughout October. A hayride, pumpkin picking, and animal feeding are all included in the admission price. Children ages 2 to 10 can take a hayride, feed goats, learn about beekeeping and how crops are cultivated on the Day In The Life Of a Farmer tour.

Wegmeyer Farms - Hamilton, VA
This Hamilton u-pick field has more than 50 distinct types. These pumpkins are grown using a no-till method, preventing muddy fields! While selecting your pumpkin from a vine, there is ample opportunity to socially isolate yourself. There must be reservations.

Ticonderoga Farms - Chantilly, VA
Over a thousand acres of forested and undulating fields are maintained by Ticonderoga Farms, a five-generation family business. In addition to a fantastic pumpkin patch, Ticonderoga also has hayrides, hillside slides, bouncy pillows, cow train rides, fire pits, a live bamboo maze, an American Indian teepee town, and Virginia's longest swinging bridge.

Which of these pumpkin patches are you most likely to visit this year? What other fall activities do you want to share? Let me know in the comments!
