This Week…Watching Weather and Birthday Cake
We spent the beginning of the week watching the Weather Channel to see where Ian was going. It’s hard to say that I’m glad we don’t live in South Florida anymore because Houston does get hurricanes.
Aging seems to be the only available way
to live a long life.

But we still have many friends (including ActiveRain members here) who are in FL so we were concerned. I love my Radar App and frequently pulled that up to watch the eye and see where it was going.
It’s paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn’t appeal to anyone.
It has been a relief that many heeded the warning to move to higher ground. However, I did see a gentleman who rode out the hurricane on his sailboat. He lost his wallet, credit cards, and everything. When asked where his boat was he said “We’re standing on it.”
If you can make lemonade out of lemons, one thing that always uplifts me after hurricanes and other similar events is how people come together to lend their hands.
The greatest good is what we do for one another.
We’ll be celebrating my birthday tonight (Saturday) with my family. Larry made my birthday cake because he knows I’d rather have one homemade.
The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm. Aldous Huxley
One more thing…I’m going to have to take exception to the International Day of Older Persons falling the day after my birthday.
Forty is the old age of youth; fifty the youth of old age. Victor Hugo
Thank you for all of your Birthday Wishes!!!
Have a “Mahvelous” Weekend Oldtimers!!!
