This Week…Watching Weather and Birthday Cake
We spent the beginning of the week watching the Weather Channel to see where Ian was going. It’s hard to say that I’m glad we don’t live in South Florida anymore because Houston does get hurricanes.
Aging seems to be the only available way

But we still have many friends (including ActiveRain members here) who are in FL so we were concerned. I love my Radar App and frequently pulled that up to watch the eye and see where it was going.
It’s paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn’t appeal to anyone.

It has been a relief that many heeded the warning to move to higher ground. However, I did see a gentleman who rode out the hurricane on his sailboat. He lost his wallet, credit cards, and everything. When asked where his boat was he said “We’re standing on it.”
If you can make lemonade out of lemons, one thing that always uplifts me after hurricanes and other similar events is how people come together to lend their hands.

We’ll be celebrating my birthday tonight (Saturday) with my family. Larry made my birthday cake because he knows I’d rather have one homemade.
