October is a great month to celebrate life and have fun! October 8 - Argyle

October 15 - Flower Mound
In partnership with the Denton County India Cultural Association, the town of Flower Mound will host its first Diwali: Festival of Lights. A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of sitting in the back row to watch the dancers practice to traditional Indian holiday music. I was mesmerized! Come and see for yourself on October 15th (free admission) from 5 to 9 p.m. Location is at Heritage Park, 600 Spinks Road, Flower Mound. The traditional Indian holiday celebrates the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and strength over fear. The event features music, dance performance, Indian cuisine and street food, a fashion show, and more. Rangoli art will be displayed using colorful chalk.
October 15 - Flower Mound
Now that the heat has been turned off and we are getting cooler temperatures, runners may be interested in Run for the Cause - Winning the Fight, to support sobriety in the Stompin' Stigma 5K fun run in Flower Mound. Runners don't have to run alone. Participants can forms teams to walk or run in a 5K course. There will be booths, music, and raffle prizes. The organization's goal is to raise $25,000. Participants will be running or walking the 5K at the RiverWalk at Central Park in Flower Mound.
October 15 - Flower Mound
ICC Japanese Fall Festival - International Christian Church, Flower Mound. Activities, food, games, raffles and worship.
October 22 - Flower Mound
It's all about the glow and who you know when the Town of Flower Mound hosts an after-hours, glow-in-the-dark pumpkin plunge at the Community Activity Center's indoor pool. They are encouraging participants to wear neon swimsuits and carve or decorate pumpkins for a floating pumpkin patch. There will be plenty of fun outdoor activities for kids and families located at 1200 Gerault Road, Flower Mound. Pre-registration is required. October 22 - Carrollton
Mother-Son Monster Mash at Creekview High School in Carrollton. Mothers and Sons come out for a howling, spooktacular good time from 6 to 9 p.m., 3201 Old Denton Road, Carrollton. Haunted House, Bounce House, dancing, games, snacks, door prizes, raffles, and meet the real SWAT Team Members & Fire Fighters.
October 27 - Flower Mound
Woof! Woof! Flower Mound residents are invited to dress their pets for a Halloween Costume Contest for the annual Woof-O-Ween!!! Awards will be presented for:
- Scariest
- Best Homemade Costume
- Owner/Pet Look-a-Like
- Most Creative
- Funniest Costume
Pets will walk to the music down the red carpet to be judged. Pets will be awarded treats and prizes too! Registration is not required but get there early. Location is at the Hound Mound Dog Park in Flower Mound at 202 S Garden Ridge Blvd.
October 27 - Lewisville
Halloween Costume Party, 6 to 7 p.m. Lewisville Public Library.
October 28- Flower Mound
Hunt for Treats in your own front yards during the town's Halloween Egg Haunt. Parks & Recreation Staff will fill residents' lawns with Halloween-colored eggs filled with prizes and candy. This is a free event for residents of Flower Mound. Registration is required through the Town of Flower Mound and ends on October 19 between 7 and 10 p.m.
October 29 - Argyle
Halloween isn't just for kids.... actually it is for Kids and KIDS!!! Yes! Halloween is about the KIDS and not just two legged kids. Goat Yoga Dallas is coming - Yay!!! A tribe of pet goats will be on site at Harvest by Hillwood in Argyle at 1300 Homestead Way, to graze and jump around or on top of kids and/or attendees. Halloween costumes are encouraged and the 4 legged Kids will be in costumes too! Registration is required. The event will be from 10:30 to 11:30. Kids ages 5-12 $20.00; 13 and up are $32.
