I am honored to be the 2022 President of www.wishgranters.org Wish Granter’s mission is to improve the quality of life of terminally ill Idaho adults and their primary caregivers, by granting them wishes and by supporting projects in their local communities, thereby providing opportunities for these adults and their loved ones to have lasting memories to cherish forever.
This year we had a unique fun(d) raiser to commemorate National Beard Day. If we hit our goal, I agreed to dye my beard in Boise State University's team colors - blue and orange. Well, guess what . . .
My wife never cared much for my beard, but I think she would have approved of this. Admittingly though, my beard was much shorter before she lost her battle to cancer in February of 2020.
Here is a photo of my wife sporting her BSU Pom Pom as a wig at the BSU Fiesta Bowl. We were fortunate to be able to go to both the 2007 and 2010 Fiesta Bowls to support BSU in their epic wins.
Her motto was "Cancer gave me more than it will take!" It cured me from being a workaholic. We were able to check many things off her bucket list. She wanted to:
- See a Broadway Play - so we saw Kinky Boots and loved it.
- Go to Niagara Falls - so we hit both the US and Canadian sides
- Enjoy great concerts - so we went to dozens including front row to see Little Big Town (we saw them 4 times); Trans Siberian Orchestra; Garth Brooks; Austrialian and Brit Floyd; Bob Seger; Elton John; Keith Urban; Def Leopard; Steve Miller; Peter Frampton; Old Dominion; Trace Atkins; Joan Jet; Chris Stapleton; Carrie Underwood; and probably a dozen others too.
- Took our grandkids to Disney World, Sea World and more.
- We visited some beautiful wineries across the US.
- We traveled to visit friends across the US.
- Took a hot air balloon ride.
- Went on several cruises.
- She got to ride a horse on the beach at sunrise in Florida.
Most people are not as fortunate to get a chance to check even one thing off their bucket list. That is why I am so passionate about what we do at Wish Granters. If you would like to donate, here is a link: https://wishgranters.networkforgood.com/projects/158508-2022-donations
