Staging with summer season in mind, before and after photos

After meeting with this home owner, (who is also a Realtor) and discussing paint colours, she was quite surprised when we said she needed to have her wall repainted a neutral beige.  "Builders beige?" she said, "but that is so boring!"

Needless to say, we convinced her that the salmon colour, although a personal choice that was picked out to bring out the salmon in her chinz sofa, was probably not going to go with everybody's furnishings.  Even as a Realtor, she still wasn't sure about the descision but decided to put her trust in us.

Next was convincing her that the matching valances needed to come down.  Again, she was very surprised, but decided to go for it!

Because of budget, we used all of her exisitng furnishings and only added a few accessories to make the home feel light and airy.

The finished result was great.  She was absolutley amazed and a huge believer now in the power of staging.  She made two calls while we were there, saying that they just had to get over and see the difference.  She also said she would now have no problem showing the home to prospective buyers.  The home will be listed next week and she is hoping for a quick sale.

We were quite happy with the result as it can sometimes be a little difficult when we are not able to bring in all new furnishings.  Her enthusiasm was so wonderful and reminded us yet again, why we do what we do!

Lisa,

You did a great job working with the seller's own items -- and the paint color will work with anyone's palette.  Since the seller is also a realtor, hopefully this will also bring you some referrals to new clients!  She should recommend you to all of her listings for a great outcome.

Lisa ~ It looks so much better repainted.  It looked a little "tight" in the before pictures, too.

You did a fantastic job, Lisa.  The after picture of the living room looks like a room from a magazine!!  I'm so glad you were able to convince her to paint over the red!

I love before and after photos...what a great job.  I would have said the same thing when told to paint some boring color like that but by golly, it worked, good for you!!

What a remarkable difference with just changing the paint color Lisa. Re arranging the furniture and your accessory placement was another great improvment.  Wonderful job!

Hi Teresa,

I believe we went with BM Sandy Brown, CC-150.  The colour is so soft and made the room look light and airy, great at this time of the year.  Lisa

Very nice job.  I bet it sells fast!  This will be so much easier for the buyers to envision with "their" furniture.

Great job and her furnishings work very nicely. Selling space and not their stuff is something I always stress. Odd had the color is anything but boring.

The new paint color looks more updated and takes the focus off the furnishings. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Lisa, you've done a fantastic job of showing how a paint color can update a room.  Thanks so much for your post.

Great makeover.  People are still a little confused between interior design and staging.  They feel that a home that has been decorated, even if it looks great will do well for showing, but staging is to try to appeal to the masses.
