Should I Sell My House After Hurricane Ian?
Selling your home after a hurricane can be very stressful. Not to mention that if You already have your home on the market. Now that the hurricane has come and gone you may now have repairs that need to be done that did not need to be done before, so now you have to deal with contractors, cleaning services, and insurance companies or sell your port charlotte property as-is in some cases.
In my circumstance by me owning property in Charlotte County, I had just purchased a property about a week before the hurricane landed and now I have to do repairs that I didn't factor in before however, it was a blessing that I had flood insurance and homeowners insurance. If I did not carry insurance, I would have to carry the burden of the extra cost to repair the property to get it back to where it was before hurricane Ian.
Some people feel adding flood insurance is not necessary, but let me tell you that couldn't be further from the truth. Fort Myers Sanibel Naples Port Charlotte Punta Gorda North Port South Gulf Cove and surrounding areas got slammed by this hurricane named Ian. Some people have lost everything and don't have the means to build back. I have lived in Florida for many years and have never experienced anything of this magnitude. That has affected so many people across Florida.
If you have a home in Port Charlotte Florida and the surrounding area you moved here for a reason or you may have loved ones that live here that you care for. I feel that most people living in Southwest Florida that have experienced a hurricane such as Ian will stay here and rebuild because no matter how you look at it. Florida is still one of the best States to live in and has so much to offer. It was a blessing to have such a quick response from local authorities and governmental agencies such as FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers not to mention all the help that we received from other states etc.
Selling your home all depends on your own personal needs. Just be sure to do your own due diligence when placing your home on the open real estate market for sale. Always use a real estate professional such as a Realtor, Title Company, Real Estate Attorney, Real Estate broker or a licensed agent.
