Do we deserve the pay we get?

In many cases, some don't! As Realtors, we are in the service business but many in many cases, don't provide it. We take Thousand and Tens of Thousands of dollars from our clients to market their homes and give them little else other than an MLS listing and (maybe) an advertisement. I see numerous listings with missing or incomplete information, poor or non-existent property descriptions and many times, not even a photo, let alone a virtual tour. In today's competitive market, we owe it to our clients to have their homes staged and well-photographed. We need to take time to craft a compelling, accurate description and expose their home in as many ways and in as many media's as possible. And we need to communicate to our clients, as regularly as they desire. Even daily if that's what they need. Every home I list includes a staging consultation, a pre-sale home inspection and professional photography with a virtual tour. All information is always present and accurate. C'mon Realtors, let's earn our wage and deliver a solid product!

Hi Dave

If I was not in such a good mood today. I would be offended by your post.

Please do not use the word WE.

I work very very hard on each and every listing I get. There is no advertising or marketing tool that I miss when it comes to promoting a listing of mine, I invest a lot of money and time and energy to a point that I get a lot of agents to my broker's open because all the food is home made.

I also am not part of we. The vast, vast, majority of REALTORS in my area work very hard for their money. Sounds to me like you may have a local problem  OR maybe just a very high opinion of...........
Unlike Anne I am in a good mood but I am offended

During the recent boom people flocked to the profession. Many were looking for easy money. With the down turn the non-professionals for the most part are being weeded out. My wife and I still find ourselves having to do both sides to make a transaction conclude successfully.

Realtors do earn our commissions. Sales is a tough business.

Without real estate advertising would local newspapers survive? How many businesses owe their livelihood to Realtors? home inspectors, web designers, photographers, software developers, cell service providers ...

We promote our cities, towns and neighborhoods. Most people don't see how much we effect the communities where we live and work.

I am happy to see that many (most?) Realtors on this Blog DO deserve the pay we get! This is good! Just this weekend I came across a number of listings in our area where I had to contact the listing agent for missing information. Information that SHOULD be present on listings. No offence intended to my fellow Realtors on ActiveRain. It seems we're a professional group. It's probably the ones that AREN'T here that need to read the message :)
