My top blog post ever ever ever. Several years ago the monthly challenge contest was called the AR Pay it Forward Challenge. This was my entry.
I like to enter the challenges every month if I can, and when I saw this one, I knew exactly what I would write about. I've been in Activerain for maybe 10 years now, and really try and read as many blogs as possible. I don't always comment on each and every one that I end up reading, and I'm sure I miss a whole bunch of them every week. But I do learn a lot about what makes agents tick, tech tips, motivational posts and real feel good stories.
My blog post story is one of the feel good story types. Since the 1970's the founders of the Project Re:Cycle program were totally fine with a small and simple 25-30 bikes at a time which was an easy number to handle for 2 retired friends. They could deliver 5-8 freshly repaired bikes in the back of a pickup truck and get on with the rest of their day. It was easy and fun and if they got a few too many to repair, they called for help from other friends, one of them being me and my son Nicholas.
While I will never be one of the big name Active Rain points people, the blogging that I seem to get the most activity on are the ones with either a humorous story such as a dopey thing a homeowner has done that pops up on an inspection, or a feel good story like my heart attack near death experience. That life changing event is coming up on the 10 year anniversary on December 12, 2022. Hard to believe it's been that long. Harder to believe that I've been a vegetarian that long as well. Changing my diet and removing meat was just one way I could help reduce future hear issues. I recently bought an electric battery E-Bicycle so I can ride farther and in any weather or terrain. Heat and hills, no problem.
The Project Re:Cycle post from November 2017 won 3rd place in the challenge and some bonus points I think, but it was the really gracious comments the post got that made it so heartwarming when I read them.
