I stuck my hand down the disposal!

I stuck my hand down the disposal!

As agents we are always looking for a way to increase our online presence. I had heard of blogging but did not know how to get started. I was apprehensive too because I was not a "writer" I heard of a class held by Donna Harris, fellow Rainer, whom taught me about blogging & Active Rain.

I still wasn't sure that this was for me but once I got started I really enjoyed it. I found I did not have to be a "writer" but just talk about what I knew to be true in my market area & write about  my experiences.

This is a post that I wrote about property management. I broker my husband in a property management company & when I am not selling houses, I go along with him for some of the fun stuff!  Like checking on clogged disposals! HA!

A gentleman read this post & called me to ask about property management. That led to managing over 12 homes for him like the above picture. Currently a 12 year business relationship!

I have had people come up to me at church saying they see my posts which I believe helps with my referral business as well.  I even have calls for tickets, directions & other odd questions. But that's okay I always ask those calls if they know anyone needing to buy or sell a home!!

When I get busy though, I tend to put blogging on the back burner & I did not post for a few years. I am trying to be more diligent & make my Active Rain part of my routine! I know with effort it is one of the ways to be in front of an area & be seen as an agent who cares about her community & someone people want to work with, one that will stick her hand down a disposal if needed

Tracy, over the years i have come and gone, but the friendships or acquaintances one makes here in the Rain always brings me back. Yes, we lost some SEO juice, but I think we shall see it coming back and if you write the posts and choose your keywords and tags carefully, you will get found. Then just cross post your blogs to your social media channels as well to get even more SEU juice. Glad to see you back.

Hello Tracy - as shocking as the implications of your post title may be, the results show a lightbulb-type moment for those who wonder if this type of marketing exposure "works".  The answer for you is a resounding yes.  Congratulations on the success story that continues with regular blogging.

Thanks Michael! I think sharing our experiences helps put a human side of us that the "open house" or "my listing" posts don't really do in my opinion.

Hi Tracy,
The good news is you're back and posting more regularly again!  I took a hiatus for a few years too due to family commitments.  But honestly, being back in the Rain has enriched my life in ways I never imagined.

Hi Tracy- welcome back!!!!  Often what I've seen happen is that blogging brings some members business which makes them busy, which means less time for blogging. Blogging is working and that's a good thing.

Hi, Tracy.

Thank you for the post. I had never stuck my hand in the disposal, but I crawled under the house with an inspector to witness the "dry rot" to convince the seller to get the problem fixed before listing the house. And it worked!

I enjoyed your post. I will follow you and your blogs. It's a pleasure to meet you.
