I stuck my hand down the disposal!
As agents we are always looking for a way to increase our online presence. I had heard of blogging but did not know how to get started. I was apprehensive too because I was not a "writer" I heard of a class held by Donna Harris, fellow Rainer, whom taught me about blogging & Active Rain.
I still wasn't sure that this was for me but once I got started I really enjoyed it. I found I did not have to be a "writer" but just talk about what I knew to be true in my market area & write about my experiences.
This is a post that I wrote about property management. I broker my husband in a property management company & when I am not selling houses, I go along with him for some of the fun stuff! Like checking on clogged disposals! HA!
A gentleman read this post & called me to ask about property management. That led to managing over 12 homes for him like the above picture. Currently a 12 year business relationship!
I have had people come up to me at church saying they see my posts which I believe helps with my referral business as well. I even have calls for tickets, directions & other odd questions. But that's okay I always ask those calls if they know anyone needing to buy or sell a home!!
When I get busy though, I tend to put blogging on the back burner & I did not post for a few years. I am trying to be more diligent & make my Active Rain part of my routine! I know with effort it is one of the ways to be in front of an area & be seen as an agent who cares about her community & someone people want to work with, one that will stick her hand down a disposal if needed!
Thanks Nick! Hopefully with this post I will surpass someone in my area who retired awhile back!! This will help motivate me.
