Let Your Yes Be Yes

By

"Let your yes be yes is good advice domestically as well as business wise. In short be true to your word and if you break it (your word, your vow, your promise) you have lost honor in the eyes of those you have vowed to.

We certainly don't want to break a promise (our word) to the little ones in our lives... even though we know that they will be quick to forgive.

However in business if we break our word the affected party(s) may not be so kind to forgive us. Some Realtors seem to forget that breaking our word in the public realm can greatly effect our business relm (circle) as well.

Did you join a church or a club to help you enlarge your Sphere Of Influence (SOI)? Did you volunteer to help your child's after school sports endeavors? Only to find later that you "just didn't have the time".

Breaking these kinds of promises are just as negative as breaking a business agreement.

The only difference is that now, instead of upsetting one person you have set up a large chain of people who may be thinking "he/she didn't follow through on this, do I really want him/here handling one of the biggest deals of my lifetime?".

Let your yes be YES!

It may be even more important outside of the business world as it is in the business world. Think about it.

Be true to your word and if you break it (your word, your vow, your promise) you have lost honor in the eyes of those you have vowed to.

Good morning Bob,

There is nothing worse than chairing a committee and having someone volunteer in a position you are counting on them for and then at the last minute they bail. It really is breaking your word instead of figuring a solution and remedy for your time constraints. We are all busy but when we committee we need to be "All in. "

Thank you Sham Reddy CRS . I used to work with a "team" when I first started out in RE and it was miserable if you had someone on the team who's word you could not rely on.

It is super frustrating Dorie Dillard Austin TX . Early in my career I joined the Minot Council of the Arts, Habitat for Humanity, ToastMasters and several church groups within our church. If one person drops the ball it means double duty for someone else and who has time for that?

Ray Henson I remember my first Mortgage (50 years ago) was about 3 pages long... today most mortgages are 16 pages along because so many people have found so many ways to weasel out of their word (their yes).

I agree, Bob- If you say you're going to do something, then do it. If you can't, then say so.

Thank you Kathy Streib . I always try my best to keep my word even if it's a very small promise.

Yes indeed. If you say you'll do something, do it! If not, you're not to be trusted going forward.

You are right on Kat Palmiotti and I view it the same way. Another good quote that is a tangent is "he who can be trusted with a lot will be given a lot and he who can be trusted with little will be given little".

Bob, a man is only as good as his word. The later generations from "ours" does not for the large part hold these values as we do.

It is scary for us older citizens  who trust that everyone holds to basic values and we see that there is pretty much nothing sacred these days Mike Frazier .
