I would be remiss to not participate in this wonderful Active Rain Challenge sponsored by our friends Aura Alex , Leanne Smith and Carol Williams on such a great topic.
When I began blogging on Active Rain in or around 2008, I had no idea what blogging even was; I only knew I had to learn. In those days we had active Community Managers who posted and lent ideas about what would pique interest and thus get our names out on the Internet. Ultimately the goal was to generate additional business. As a Greater Los Angeles Realtor trying to make a living during the bottom of a down market, it would have been extremely foolish of me not to give it a try. I was basically out of business, looking for referrals and thought Active Rain was the way to go.
Fifteen years later and I can honestly say that not only does blogging work but interacting within the Active Rain community has indeed led to many referrals over the years to this Greater Los Angeles Realtor’s inventory in the form of land listings, condominium listings, and duplex listings. I’m happy to say that most even transpired into closed sales. To those who gave me referrals, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks to learning how to blog, my name got out on the World Wide Web which in turn led to new clients both buyers and sellers. My geographic area greatly expanded as I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients from Asia, the Pacific Rim, the Middle East, and Eastern and Western Europe to name a few off the top of my head. This allowed me to develop into an international Beverly Hills Realtor and be able to add that as another of my niche markets. My Vacant Land Expertise was my first niche market, and this too was enhanced by Internet Blogging.
The unexpected surprise to me was the friendships and relationships I developed thanks to the Active Rain Interaction. It’s truly amazing how we can get to know one other, most not even having met face-to-face, just by interacting via comments and sharing thoughts and support with one another. The friendships and connections I have developed on Active Rain are something you cannot achieve on FB, Twitter or Next Door in my humble opinion. For whatever reasons, I find my Active Rain connections much deeper. Over the years I have even received thoughtful gifts like cookbooks, wine and decorative motivational signs; really too many to mention but again I say thank you to those bearing both physical gifts and the gift of friendship. Both are cherished and appreciated.
A final thought about blogging, I recently posted about a vacant lot that I sold. Shortly thereafter, I received an email asking if I had other lots that are identical or similar in views. So, with that said, yes blogging still works.
