I Have A Special Reason For The Gratitude In My Life

Mortgage and Lending with George Souto NMLS #65149 FHA, CHFA, VA Mortgages NMLS #65149

Debe Maxwell, CRS is hosting the ActiveRain Challenge the month titled "November 2022 Thanksgiving Gratitude Challenge".  This will be an easy challenge for me, because I have MUCH to have gratitude for.  For this challenge we get to write one blog per week for this month, and my first blog will be about one of the biggest blessings in my life, the birth of my one and only grandchild, Elizabeth.

This amazing blessing in my life was born Eight years ago on July 13, and brought a special joy into my life that words cannot even begin to describe.   She has truly given me a new appreciation for how much I have been blessed with.  To say I am grateful for having her in my life would be an understatement, it goes far beyond gratitude.  She has added a new meaning of gratitude and purpose to my life.  My family has always been a source of gratitude and purpose for me, but something about this gorgeous little girl has heightened the meaning of gratitude and purpose to a level I have not had before.

A major source of what drives me has been my desire to make a better life for my wife and two sons than what I had when I was growing up.  That desire fuels me, and drives me in a way which is hard to describe.  This driving force has be enhanced by the addition of my beautiful granddaughter Elizabeth.  She taken this desire to care for my family to an even higher level.  As much as I was driven to provide for my wife and two sons, I want to do even more for this gorgeous little girl.

She was a beautiful baby when she was born, and now eight years later she is growing up into a beautiful young lady.  She is not only beautiful, but she is also very smart.  She has tested in the 90 percentile in math, and 95 percentile in reading.  She has not gotten involved in sports, but loves to dance and cheerleading.

My son and daughter in-law live south of Seattle, WA, so I don't get to be with, and do things with Elizabeth as much as I would like to, but we do FaceTime every Sunday for 1-2 hours.  This is something my wife and I look forward to every week, and always have lots to talk about.

My wife in particularly enjoys reading to Elizabeth, and in turn Elizabeth reads us a story as well.  She also enjoys playing games with us, and makes sure my wife is always the winner.

I am hoping someday to be blessed with another grandchild, but for now I am thankful and full of gratitude for God blessing me with this very special special little girl at this time in my life.

Hello George - while I don't have children of my own, I can see the joy my sister has been gifted with the arrival of her first granddaughter a year ago.  And my mom who now has a great-granddaughter is also participating in that excitement.  Such a happy post.

George Souto - You truly have been blessed with that beautiful granddaughter of yours. I only have one long distance granddaughter and no other grandchildren. I share your joy and know how much she means to you.

May 2023 be the year you get to spend more time with her and your family and may she continue to excel in school while doing all the things she loves to do. God bless you, one and all.

Good morning, George... I CANNOT believe that Elizabeth is already eight years old... she's kind of stuck in my mind as a toddler.  They just grow up so fast. What a lovely young lady she's become. I know you miss living close to her and her parents... but isn't is wonderful to have the technology today like Facetime? We did not have it when our grandchildren were growing up.

You have such a beautiful cheerleader to be grateful for and I am sure it is tough not being able to be around her more often and give her hugs.

This is such a wonderful post, and your gratitude shines from start to finish. I'm sorry you are so far away from Elizabeth, but Facetime is a wonderful way to stay in touch isn't it?

Hi George Souto, your granddaughter is beautiful. Thanks to technology, you can Facetime each other, sure it doesn't replace in-person time but is better than just the voice.

Grandparenthood is wonderful, George Souto, as you already know. I have two granddaughter who are both in high school. When there were born, they lived only minutes away and we could see them frequently. Now, there are several states removed from us so we do not see them as often as we would like to...along with their mom and dad. Fortunately, we will be visiting them for a few day over the Thanksgiving week. We are really looking forward to that!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
