November Challenge - Grateful for my Fur Babies

Debe Maxwell has challenged us to express our gratitude in the month of November for the things we are so grateful for in our lives.    There are so many aspects of our lives we can look at with so much gratitude!

With being in real estate, I haven't had time at home really for a dog, and their needs, and now in my current home, I don't have a fence.    Cats work better for my situation living alone, always nice to have companionship.

I previously had 2 kitties (always better when there are two, and they keep each other company), but Aja passed after I moved into my new home.   Mia passed last June when she was almost 22 years old!    It was only a day and was back at Dumb Friends League searching for the right kitty.    I know I needed a kitty, and that playing and looking at no less than ten different kitties.    I probably made a hasty choice, as, by December, I returned her to the shelter.    She got to where she didn't want anything to do with me, even after I got Lucy, and they got along great.   So, in December, I brought home Izzi to keep Lucy company.    OH MY, those two are a pair!

They are both just over one year old, but still very much kittens!    Lucy is a jumper, and often find her on the railings, or up on the highest shelf in my office.    But, she is the most loveable.    She either is at my feet under my desk, on the desk, or in the window in my office when I am home and working.

They are so much fun to play with - they run and jump up in the air to catch toys, and often at each other, and collide!    They make me laugh all the time.

Don't know what a day would be like without my babies!   AND, I don't want to know!

Grant, absolutely, life is much better having fur babies in our lives.

Lise Howe some cats can be aloof, but boy Lucy sure is not.   She is either in the window, on my desk or at my feet either under the desk, or next to it.   She usually isn't far from me when I am home, and meets me at the garage door when I return.

Hi Joan,

It was only a short time that we only had one kitty.  You are right.  They need company, but as you stated, they need the right company.  I am sure you felt bad, but you did the right thing to bring the other kitty back to the shelter.  I remember the story.

Very cute fur babies! I have never heard of a cat living to 22 years of age!  That's amazing.  You have kitty magic going on!

Hi Joan- both Larry and I love dogs and cats but it has been years since we've had any. With so many birds and squirrels that call our backyard home, I'm not sure it would work. But I know exactly how you feel. I know that when we had our dogs and cat, I talked to them all of the time and loved watching them play.

I feel that way about our dogs, even though they seem to run my life. The few times that we've been dog-less (when one passed on) the house has felt like an empty shell.

I am grateful for them every day.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® especially cats I think need a buddy.   Our schedules sometimes can be quite hectic, and not enough time to give them affection.

Jan Green - Scottsdale, AZ my vet says I must be doing something good, she said they don't see many cats reaching that age.   I was blessed to have Mia for so long, she was a great kitty, but Lucy has about the same personality.

Kathy Streib it is tough to travel though, they had to go to the kennel, and they weren't thrilled.   I can imagine having your wildlife in your backyard could be enough.

Marte Cliff nice to see you!   It has been a while.   When we have a pet pass, it is like an empty shell, such a void!
