Thankful for Good HVAC and Plumbing Services

The November Thanksgiving Gratitude Challenge for ActiveRain bloggers asks for a weekly post, during the month, for something for which we are grateful.

I have always recommended an annual service agreement for HVAC equipment. It is important to properly maintain the equipment and to have someone to call for fast service if the heat or air conditioning fails. Our home, like many in our community, has two HVAC zones. We have equipment in our basement and our attic as well as the exterior units.

For over 26 years, we've had annual service agreements with Tuckers Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing. They have provided high quality service for maintenance and for equipment replacement and we have recommended this company to clients and neighbors. They provide scheduled calls in the spring and the fall as well as any other needed trips for repairs or replacements. Click on the link to visit their website.

During the past year we needed to replace the Flushmate toilet in our powder room and discovered that the drain line was not properly installed when our home was built in 1993. You never know what you might discover and it was good to have an experienced plumber to take care of the situation.

Our current issue is the need to replace our 80 gallon electric water heater. Our last replacement was in 2012, for $1,000, and the shocker is that a new replacement quote is in the $3,600 range.

Always select a company with a good reputation to service the equipment in your home.

This is a wonderful topic for a gratitude post. Yes, an annual HVAC service should be done to make sure everything stays in good shape, and Yes, it's great to have trustworthy service providers. That takes a lot of the stress off. And wow, that's a big increase in price!

I agree that is beneficial to have done annually or semi-annually but the guy that used to do it for me has become flaky, haha.  I need to find someone that is reliable.

Good morning, Roy... 26 years is a long relationship with a vendor. As for your $3,500 quote to replace a water heater, consider me officially gob-smacked. Mine is gas and was replaced earlier this year for about $1,200. And I paid only $100 as I always keep a home warranty on my home for big expenditures like this.

So true having reliable vendors who demonstrate high quality skills is essential. Now finding those may sometimes be a challenge. Glad you found one who has consistently performed for over two decades. That is a huge accomplishment.

Good HVAC and plumber services wouldn't necessarily jump to top of mind when I make my gratitude lists --but you are right! When things break, I am VERY glad to have someone reliable to fix

You gave me a good idea. I will check to see if we can convert to a gas water heater at a lower price. Our electric water heater is next to our gas furnace.

Roy Kelley hi Roy... it hadn't occurred to me that electric water heaters would me more expensive than gas. I looked into tankless water heaters when we were replacing and those were running around $3,500.

$3,500 - just WOW, Roy! Our tankless water heater didn't cost that much!

You're right though, we do need to be grateful for our good HVAC and plumbing providers. Their expertise can make or break our home's comfort! We are having ours serviced this week, in anticipation of a cold winter!

Thank you for your post of gratitude, Roy!
