Turning 70, Still Going Strong.

Turned 70 this weekend, and my family threw me a big party. What's next they ask?

Funny people ask me if I am retiring, well no I am not. I love what I do and the lifestyle that I have been able to live. So what would you do at this point in your life?

Real estate has allowed my wife and me to travel to some amazing places. We just got back from Spain and Portugal. While I am working on marketing for the winter, I am setting myself up for a spring trip back to Europe.

So other options are enjoying life right where you live, mixing your days up with maybe golf, or hanging out doing lunch with your favorite people. I feel blessed to live in Maui and have the option to go windsurfing or surfing.

So I am going to keep on working. When I am asked if I am retiring, I call it a working retirement, whatever works that day. So what's your plan?

Aloha Steve - happy belated birthday. I think Portugal is a magical place filled with all sorts of discoveries. I have been there twice as well as visiting Spain. You are doing great Steven. I remember when I turned 70, which was almost a decade ago. I helped paint the exterior of my home. I might be able to still do it, but I don't want to try. It's important to keep active.

by 70 I will not be doing real estate. In the next "up" market.... which I anticipate in 5 to 7 years I will more likely than not put my office on the market and just walk away from real estate. Maybe I will do something different, but it will be something that doesn't require the time real estate does.

Tammy, actually I enjoy the hunt. I am not doing open houses, I am spending a lot of time windsurfing, surfing and traveling. I am working on selling high end properties, and find it easy to work around 20 hours a week unless I have some hot real estate to take care of.
