ANIMAL FRIENDLY RETAILERS IN SAN ANTONIO

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Criado Realty 0548772

I am not one to venture out into the crazy nor is my dog Leonard interested in being in a crazy environment. But I know some folks like it and/ or have to be out and about today, Black Friday. So to help you out.....

BLOG UPDATE: There are many who are abusive if animal service animal and therapist rights. Notice that I mentioned leashed, etc. I am not going to judge anyone for their animal service needs but I am aware that we can't always see the disability. I have a therapist in the family who specializes in PTSD with Veterans. I have learned much. If I offend with this first blog, I truly apologize.

If you are going to do so then please, please, please consider the following:

  • Make sure your animal is well trained. You wouldn't want to get sued for something bad, which isn't covered in animal support rights.
  • Don't be a poo poo head. Let your animal relieve themselves before going inside and be sure to pick up their, um, poo.
  • Make sure your animal is properly secured, leashed.
  • Be a good example of the right to bring animals.

Here are some animal friendly & unfriendly retailers verified by a few websites that I researched to verify.

Good morning Cathy. Not a fan of people with pets in stores. I think I have become more negative as people have become more abusive of the right. Enjoy your day.

I understand your point of view. I agree that people have become abusive. There are some who are still denied that need it to get through the day.  Thanks for bringing that up, a very valid point.   I updated my blog.

Interesting Blog, us being non-pet owners, would be leery of walking into a place with animals walking down the aisles. Bill

I understand and I am not a huge fan of taking animals into stores. But being a certified animal assistance real estate agent and family in the psychiatry business,  I am open to it. San Antonio has 3 nick names: Alamo City, River City, and Military USA. We have more miltary bases in this city than any other, and thus we have a huge number of disabled and ptsd vets. They served. I am grateful. I will support them even if big dogs intimidate me. I just go to another aisle and then come back.  I appreciate your comment and stopping by!!

I don't like shopping in general and have never really been shopping on Black Friday.  I will be doing it today with my nephew though since I won't be in town for his birthday.  Wish me luck, haha.  I am not much of a pet person but I showcase my friend Trish's cats each and every Thursday!

Good morning, Cathy... love that list of pet-friendly retailers... although I can't say I've seen dogs in many of them. I couldn't take my Bingo out to any store... he'd go crazy trying to meet and greet every person he saw. I'd never get any shopping done. When I lived in Paris seeing dogs in grocery store did appall me... especially since the French would typically allow dogs to do anything they wanted when outside the home.

Good morning! The French! LOL They are European and somewhat on the edge for sure, super liberal. I do get a little weirded out at grocers, but then again, having traveled I am aware that we are a bit over sanizitzed in our markets. That is one reason that I like farmer's markets and such.  They're like that in Amsterdam too. I used to live in Europe when I was little.

Hello Cathy - I wonder if Leonard or other parts would like to voice their opinion?  It seems to me, although I don't claim to be an expert, that they might have some expectations that don't exactly match. Of course, friendliness towards furry friends is fabulous.

I'm sure this will be appreciated by some and taken with good intentions while others will look at it with scorn for the implication. Their dog is the vicious one

Ed I appreciate your comment. I guess perhaps something I wrote seemed off base causing some vicsousness concern. Service Animals are well trained, Emotional Support Animals not so much. But all dogs have the propensity to bark, grow, or bite and would be courteous for those who bring their dogs into retailers to be cognizant of other's fears.  Have a super weekend!

Hmm, although we are dog lovers, I'm not sure this is the best shopping experience. I have never seen them in any of the retailers that are pet friendly.

On a personal level I'm indifferent, at worst. At best, knowing there are people who struggle with reality, I'm supportive.

It's rampant here. We have a major medical and military community. That translates to massive therapy needs, physical, mental and both.

Cathy loved your post and hundreds of ideas were running through my head.... one I do not take our dog to any of the stores now wanting to stress her out.... the funniest thing I noticed how your photo had full shelves... so the photo must be recent:) Endre

Thanks Endre! It had a huge number of views and only a few comments or likes. I think it struck a nerve with some. I was unware this was a sensitive topic. Hopefully it was helpful to many.  Have a super weekend!
