This Week…Family Fun and Finally Quiet

Hello Kathy - family dynamics are always a good source for a quote or two.  At least that's been my experience from years decades of observation.  And participation.  

Good morning Kathy. The only part of our home that could accommodate 30 people is our western balcony. The rest of the place would not qualify. Kudos to you and now spend some "nothing" time. 

Having people is fun, but the quietness after all leaves is priceless.  Great information.  Thanks for sharing, enjoy your weekend, and here's a GOOD LUCK to your favorite COLLEGE or NFL Team! (Go Texans!)

Good morning, Kathy... I get it. When we lived overseas we always had lots of company from the USA... who doesn't want to come to Paris and London and stay for free in a luxurious home? And while I enjoyed seeing friends and family, I was always happy for the peace and quiet that came after their departures.

Kathy - it must have been a fun time.  Our plans changed at 5pm on Wednesday when the host at the House in Binghamton NY said the child was sick.  Daughter Ashley was concerned about 5 month old Teddy.  So we went to there club for Thanksgiving.  Working out fine since they are selling their house and have to get ready for pictures.

we only had eight for dinner - it was a bit complicated because my son tested positive for COVID about four hours before dinner started - he double masked and didn't eat but it made things a bit complicated - I am hopeful for Christmas!

Glad your Thanksgiving get-together turned out so well Kathy. With all the work involved putting this together, you deserve a nice long REST!

It sounds like your Thanksgiving was a complete success! One always forgets all the work that goes into hosting and then all the laughter and stories are fantastic but the next day its all I want is some peace and quiet! LOl!

Kathy, just thinking of 30 people all talking at the same sounds like a headache.   You are lucky to have a large family.

LOl this is too funny!  Gary and I felt the same way on Friday.  Do Nothing!  We didn't have nearly as many as you had over but we still had a house full.  And we were both tired!  Today....a new start!  Time to decorate the tree etc etc etc!!  Enjoy your peace and quiet...........until the game starts anyway!! 😘

Kathy we had a much smaller crowd than you, but it was still fun.

30 people is quite a good turnout and I am sure everyone had plenty to catch up on!  I can't blame you for wanting peace and quiet after hosting such an event.

Hi Kathy Streib - You deserve to rest the whole weekend.  I remember hosting my family for just about every holiday.  But even with all showing up, we only had about 24.  I had at least 2-3 others helping me. 

Fast forward to Thursday, only four adults, and Tristan and I felt overwhelmed.  I made too much food!  Rick did help with all the cleanup on Friday while I vegged.

 That being said, I am a lightweight next to you! 

I have had a raucous 8 days of family activity. Last evening was the end of it.  Today, I rooted and foraged in bed.  There were several face-plants into my pillow, with only the sound of purring from a contented cat or two.

Every single member of my family...including me...talk fast and loud. 

I was so happy to have the quiet on Friday. Rick and I didn't even put the TV or radio on like we usually do during the day. We just enjoyed the silence.

Sounds like a very busy but wonderful holiday. Our gathering was small - a total of 10 with the 4 grandkids.
