Saturday's Shots - Incredible Foliage in Charlotte 2022

I mentioned to George Souto that I often thought of him when I awaken to a gorgeous fall foliage show. I don't always capture shots of our view but, on occasion, I remember my camera when I head out for my morning walk.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® wrote a post of gratitude about fall in Sedona which also reminded me to share our spectacular foliage this year!

This was not taken this week but, we are still seeing brilliant reds this week which, North Carolinians will tell you, historically means we are in for a cold winter - one cold enough to kill, not only bacteria & viruses but, annoying pests in and around our homes. Those neusances, in our area of late, include stink bugs, beatles, red ants, household ants and more. 

Charlotteans are hopeful we get that super cold winter that is predicted to eliminate all of the 'southern bugs' we have been seeing more and more in recent years. If our stunning foliage this year is a true indicator, I'm up for a cold winter too!

Debe, yes what an awesome photo and indeed we corelate to George Souto  and Sheri Sperry - MCNE®  when it comes to photography of foliage:) Having lived decades on the east coast I can relate to these beautiful changing of the colors.... maybe I will start next year and show our color changes.... since most people do not think there are Four Seasons in LA:) Endre

LOL I have heard about your amazing four seasons and we share that here as well, Endre Barath, Jr.  That is one of our big 'attractions' to our area as it seems that it's not all that common in other parts of the nation. I'm not a huge fan of winter but, this year, I'm looking forward to a hard cold to get rid of some of these pests.

 

The red ants have taken over a corner of my garden and thankfully, they did so after 'harvest.' If they hadn't, I would not be tending that end of the garden until they were gone!! My mother had an anaphylactic reaction to a sting from them when they first became a nuisance here in the US. So, they are scary!

Debe, we are freezing right now 53 degrees outside, those ants are indeed scarry and all I can say is ouch since it is a public platform:))

You won't believe this but, it's 52º here in Charlotte right now - just checked my watch! I am ready for a hard freeze though - I want those ants GONE! 🤹‍♀️

We lost a TON of leaves this weekend as the winds were furious here in Charlotte, Laura Cerrano! I'm thankful I had several from last week for keepsake!

Good morning Debe - our foliage is now long gone.  It has been cold here as well.  True it does kill the pests as long as your house is sealed and they don't get in.

We lost a LOT of it today, Grant Schneider! I can't BELIEVE how windy it was all-day-LONG! I'm sad that we lost a lot of the foliage but, hopefully we still have some red color around town. I'll see tomorrow!

Those are amazing colors!  I don't see that type of color change in my immediate area but heading up north a bit, like where Sheri Sperry - MCNE® lives we can see it.

Charlotte is incredibly 'green' and our foliage is normally gorgeous but, this year, it's been over-the-top AMAZING! At every turn, in every nook & cranny, you see breathtaking color this year. I have taken so many shots of the color this year...another thing to be grateful for, right?!!

Funny but, I was doing a little work in my garage earlier today and saw a stink bug on the outside wall of the garage. I quickly shut the door to avoid him getting in! I'm all about a hard cold now - and I'm looking forward to them being gone here too, Kat Palmiotti!

It really is! I hear some say that they leaves are gone in other part of the country. Until today, we still had a ton of them! Today, the wind has been fierce - in fact, the lake had white caps on it! So, we lost more than I had hoped we would during this weekend's storms, George Souto.

Our mild climate typically allows color extending farther than other areas but, this year, it's been incredibly breathtaking, Nina Hollander, Broker! The park around Belk's HQ was one of my favorite spots - just gorgeous color.

Ours lost a ton of leaves this weekend - especially today, Lise Howe. I cannot believe the fierce winds we had and the leaves (which we have very few in our backyard overlooking the lake) are piled incredibly HIGH right now! 

We certainly did enjoy several weeks of splendor though!
