The ultimate Door County rental property can be YOURS

Love it or hate it, short term rental (with restrictions as imposed by the various towns and villages) is here to stay in Door County.  Over the past 5 years, approximaely one-third to one-half of the properties we have transferred have been sold to be used at least partially as investment properties, subject to the restrictions of the governing municipality.

This trend has already tightened the market in an area where homes are expensive and hard to come by for first-time home buyers.  Agents are Brokers have to be diligent and know zoning, rules, restrictions and regulations--and the first thing we'll do is encourage a potential Buyer to contact the Door County Tourism Zone, which is the first step in getting a permit for any Door County municipality.  There are also considerations like taxes--there is sales tax charged, plus a County tax, plus Door County has a ROOM tax, and certain areas have Premier Resort Taxes.  So the Tourism Zone is the best first step if you have interest in Door County rental

And sometimes, the trend even goes BACKWARDS, and properties that are rentals are taken out of short-term rental pools to become year-round homes, as was the situation with this property in Fish Creek in 2022.

The short-term rental business isn't for everyone, and towns and villages have gotten more restrictive in the past two years as to how you can rent, and how many people you can rent to (and also monitor advertising), so consulting with the Door County Tourism Zone is a must-do if you are even toying with the idea of taking on a short-term rental.

However, the profits of short-term rental in Door County can be considerable, and we are currently offering a FANTASTIC opportunity for short-term transient rental in downtown Sister Bay, Door County's most popular year-round village.  For Sale:  SwedeInn, a 10-room year-round hotel which also includes a 2 bedroom, 1 bath and laundry house rental and full kitchen, PLUS an upper duplex that has been long term rental, PLUS three seasonal duplex cottages that sleep 4-8 each and have been used as employee housing (which is in high demand in northern Door County).  There is also an office off of the duplex.  All of this is in downtown Sister Bay on Bluffside Lane, a short walk from the water and everything else in downtown Sister Bay.  The property actually consists of two separate tax parcels, 10631 Bluffside Lane, Sister Bay, WI 54234 and 10641 Bluffside Lane, Sister Bay, Wisconsin 54234.  The room count is for both parcels.

Sister Bay Inn for Sale

This property is being sold turn-key, with the Seller also turning over 2023 rental to the purchaser.  The ten rooms in the main building of SwedeInn can currently sleep 24 people.  The duplex lower level used for short-term rental can sleep 6 (2 bedrooms plus pull-out) and the upper long-term rental level can sleep 4-6 with ease (or would be perfect for someone interested in managing the rest of the property).  The seasonal cottages can currently sleep 12-18, depending on sleeping arrangements (the beds are full-sized and some units have two each).  All told, you can have a LOT of people sleeping under the roofs of the property at 10631/10641 Bluffside Lane in Sister Bay, Wisconsin!  The property comes fully furnished and ready to begin operations immediately upon your purchase and proper licensure for rental.

Good afternoon MaryKay,

Short term rentals are here to stay as they really make sense for so many situations now. Sometimes a seller has sold their home to let their buyer take possession and their new construction home gets delayed..a short term rental isa  perfect solution!
