Healthy Holiday Eating Habits for Fido 🐶
Now that the 'Season to be Jolly' is upon us, many humans tend to overindulge in rich foods along with decadent desserts through to the New Year. Oh! Not to mention, Valentines Day and then there's Easter and...so on!
While celebrating, avoid giving the following to a dog:
- Chocolate
- Dairy products
- Chicken or turkey bones
- Gum and candy
- Artificial sweeteners
- Grapes
- Raisins
- Macadamia nuts
- Avocados
- Onions
- Garlic
- Salt
- Tea leaves
- Raw yeast dough
- Spoiled foods
- Alcohol products
A dog can become very sick or worse, die when ingesting the above items, so be careful when preparing foods and when eating them. What often falls to the floor is quickly gobbled up by these 4-legged family members!
If accidentally partaking, the symptoms may be; distended stomach, bloat, vomiting, retching, weakness, lethargy, collapse, elevated heart rate, tremors, diarrhea, coma, get them to the vet as soon as possible.
Every minute counts, so act fast for much needed relief or to save a life. While enjoying the holidays, keep in mind that Fido loves to indulge as well and that you are fully in charge of that pup's healthy eating habits!
