Friday Surprises in Flower Mound, Texas on 12/2/22

Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

I stopped off at Allegiance Title on Friday morning and was surprised to see Santa Clause in one of the conference rooms. We had a nice visit.

The Flower Mound Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held in the evening on Saturday, 12/3/2022. What a surprise it was for me to see a different Christmas Tree lit up in the Mixed Use Neighborhood and also surprised nobody was standing by it having pictures taken or that nobody was taking carriage rides. I took a picture and isn't it lovely?

While driving and listening to the radio, the original Pink Panther song came on the air while passing by Chick-Fil-A. My eyes caught the sign reading Pink Peppermint Milkshake and like a force out of a science fiction movie something made me turn into the driveway, into the drive up window and order a Pink Peppermint Milkshake. It has been years since I allowed myself to have a Milkshake and I have to say, it tasted really good! Thankfully, while passing by the second sign I was reminded that it would be a good idea to make a list when I get home, but I was not about to circle the building to allow some force from nature to order fast food chicken. When it comes to marketing during the holidays, it's a good idea to have self-control!

About midway between Chick-Fil-A and home, I passed the street called Lake Flower. At the end of the street in the cul-de-sac is a house that used to belong to my friends. I was always invited over for a Christmas Open House the week before Christmas. I sold their home in 2018. Lots of people came to the previous owner's annual Christmas Open House and those were fun holidays. When I listed the property for sale, I put current photos into the MLS but inside I displayed lots of photos I took over the years with Christmas Decorations and told stories about the history and reputation the house had that was affectionately called the Christmas House and/or the Ginger Bread House.

For some strange reason, something got a hold of me again and I turned down the street and saw the house I sold all lit up and thought the new owners did a lovely job keeping up with the Christmas House Tradition. While sucking through my straw drinking my pink Peppermint Milkshake, I reminisced, thinking about Christmas past with the other people and took notice a tree was cut down out front but happy to see they kept the theme going using candy canes going up the stairs, lights around the front lawn, decorated windows on the first and second floor,  I saw something different on the gate with the remote control that goes into the backyard. I really liked that they used America Flag Lights to string through the iron gate. Tonight, I am going to write a letter to the new owners to let them know how much I appreciated what they did and seal the envelope with approval. I hope they write back!

Tomorrow night is the official lighting of the Tree by the Town of Flower Mound at the Recreational Center. I hope to be surprised again! Happy Holidays everyone. Enjoy the magic and may you experience many happy surprises too!

Wayne Martin - Thanks!

That's a good thought you shared and reading your line about the "power of memories," and the "opportunity to review them," I thought from now on, it would be a good idea to deliberately review the week and make plans or revisions for next week. We all need to keep our memories sharp!

May your day be great in every way!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - Driving down memory lane does stir up memories and I like to think good memories are the fondest of all!

Later yesterday evening I talked to my sister, she mentioned some old family memories she had and then I reciprocated. We were on the phone for hours just smiling across the many, many miles we live and suddenly, spontaneously, good memories were rekindled. I definitely went to bed with a good warm feeling and slept well too!

I remember as a kid the treat of stopping at the pharmacy, where there was also that soda fountain and even today miss those special milk shakes and reding the comic books that were for sale

Ed Silva - Awe... that is a happy memory. I can almost see you as a kid looking around the pharmacy, reading the menu, making a decision about which 'special milk shakes,' were available; then sitting around reading 'comic books.'

I have to say, you triggered a good memory that I hadn't thought of for years! My best friend who lived across the street when we were kids and I loved to take walks down Chicago Avenue. Neither one of us had money, but if we found money on the sidewalk and picked it up, it was like a falling star that brought us good luck. She always wanted to go to the Junk Shop (today would be called Antique Store). She was hooked on comic books and together we rummaged through the boxes of comic books until the right one was found to buy. Then we shared the comic book and talked about the characters.

If you can imagine me having a really big smile now, you are right!

I bet the new owners LOVE your letter; what a great idea.

As for your post, it sounds like you had quite the lovely evening with the pink Peppermint Milkshake, Christmas trees and Christmas lights. Love it!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Kat Palmiotti - When it comes to indulging myself with food I don't need, I usually have a strong will power but last night, that didn't happen. And I am glad!!! I enjoyed every bit of it! I was also thrilled that there weren't crowds of people around the tree because it gave me a chance to enjoy it from the ground up as I walked around the tree admiring its height and beauty.

I wish you sweet surprises this weekend and it would be great to read about your experiences too! May every second this weekend be happy and memorable for you!

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho - I enjoy the Christmas Spirit very much. Even though I rarely have a chance to spend Christmas or any holidays with family, I keep that spirit in my heart every day of the year and I am grateful.

I hope something magical and wonderful comes your way this weekend or some day soon during this holiday season.

Hi and Santa make quite a good looking pair! And that is a gorgeous tree... it caught my eye right away. My neighborhood is all lit up for Christmas... I drove through last night as I got home in the dark and it put a big smile on my face.

Nina Hollander, Broker - LOL! I was embarrassed, but Santa was a gentleclause who kept his pause to himself. I thought the tree was pretty incredible too! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here too! I just love how creative people are with lights and Christmas displays.

When you smile, the whole world smiles too!
