We have come a long way!

We have come a long way!  Do you remember the FAX machine? Actually, they are still out there, just not as prevalent as they were in the 90's.  I remember when they first came out. I was watching a show on TV that showed how you could put a document in on one side and have it come out across town on another "FAX" (aka: Facsimile machine).  I thought, Why?  Well, as we all know, that technology is quite old and antiquated.

So what other tech tools have fallen to the wayside?  So many.  Look at the progression of our Televisions.  What use to be a piece of furniture adoring our living room corners, are now hanging on walls in every room in the house, and offices!

Then we have our speed of phones and computers, 2G, 3G, 4G and now we have 5G.  3G is SLOW.  Did I mention Dial Up?  Oh my, that is unheard of.  How about the Blackberry?  Blackberry is now obsolete.  That use to be the handset software of choice.  Oh, the Pager!  Ha ha, I just keep thinking of all these items that use to be technology we couldn't live without.

  • Point and shoot cameras
  • External hard drives
  • Wired head phones
  • Dash board mounted GPS

These are just a few items that come to mind.  And the future is changing faster then we can keep up with.  What does your future hold?  Keeping up with it can be a full time endeavor.

Things sure are different Cindy. Remember watching the "Wonderful World of Color" and the family focused Disney specials on our set. See a color program at home was amazing at the time. Jeff

Hello Cindy - the world is an interesting place.  "Must Haves" can become "Has Beens" quite quickly at times.  It can be difficult to keep pace.

HI Cindy... I'm old enough to remember mimeograph machines, when touch tone phones came in, the first electric typewriters, and the first generation of answering machines. The only constant in life is change...

As I look at my photo library, I'm so glad we have moved past film cameras. I got my first digital camera around 2000 when we were first time homeowners. I have been able to document all the before-after of the updates we've made in digital pics. Before with film, you took so relatively few shots that we do now (now we take everything on our phones!) Our whole life is journaled day by day!

Yes indeed, technology has grown by leaps and bounds! I had a TV that was so heavy it took several people to move it. Now you can pick them up with one hand. Digital photography means you can take photo after photo and just delete the ones you don't like. And you can see them immediately not a week later when the photo shop has finished them. Carrying your office in your hand! Who would have thought? Streaming movies! We've definitely come a long way.
