Did you know about the dogs abandoned at the border?

Services for Real Estate Pros with Marte Cliff Copywriting

Not long ago on Tucker Carlson's show he brought us a segment about the dogs that illegal immigrants are abandoning at the border. They bring them along, and then when the climb on a bus to go somewhere beyond the border, they simply leave them behind.

Tucker's comment was that people who abandon their dogs to starve aren't the kind we need in this country. I agree.

There aren't just a few. There are hundreds. And they're hungry.

A group called Big Dog Rescue Ranch has stepped in to help. They have a large Katie no-kill facility that is currently home to more than 700 dogs. Rehabilitation is part of their program, too.

Can you feature how much dog kibble and medical care it takes to sustain 700 dogs?

Dogs who are abandoned by the illegals are just part of the problem, for them, and for shelters across the country. The lady from Big Dog Rescue Ranch explained that shelters are also full because of inflation.

People who are struggling to feed their children are turning their dogs in at rescue shelters. It hurts my heart to think of it. Both for the people who are forced to make that choice and for the innocent dogs who did nothing to create the problem.

After listening to that show and visiting their website, I sent a donation to BDRR.org.

If you love dogs, or if you love someone who loves dogs, please consider doing the same. If you have a rescue near you, help them. Otherwise, Big Dog Rescue Ranch can certainly use your help.

And of course, if you have room in your home and your heart, adopt a dog who needs your love. I promise you'll get abundant love in return.

(That's my Katie above, imploring you to please give so others can eat as well as she does.)

Marte- I was not aware of this and I do agree...we do not need or want those who would abandon their dogs. We already have enough of those who would mistreat animals living here already!  Thank you for the heads up. I'll check out the website.

Kathy - I'd like to take all those who mistreat animals and put them on an island where they could fend for themselves.

I was not aware of this. How sad. Why bring the dog along if you're just going to leave it? Grrrr. I will check out the website as well.

Kat -That's my question as well. Why bring them just to leave them?

Marte I am a dog lover to the max and yet somehow this doesn't surprise me at all. Living in a border state and watching this all play out in plan site in Phoenix, day after day, with all the people coming here, including family groups camping out in parks and alley ways is heartbreaking. I'm not kidding....as I'm out and about every day I see HUNDREDS of migrants. And that is a drop in the bucket as to how many there really are in AZ.  A few folks from  from back East say oh you all need to help them out.  And I say.....how do we do that when block after block people are begging for money etc every day? I have never seen anything like this in my 35+ years of living in AZ.

I do appreciate you writing about the dogs......it's all very, very sad what is going on.

Marte and it's only going to escalate after title 42 is lifted for good.  God help us all.  The amount of drugs entering is astronomical as well. Crazy times... God Bless the USA and all it's citizens.

Anna Banana - I'd love to help them out - right over the border and out of the country. Those people who say YOU should help are sure not willing to do it themselves, are they?

I am not a pet guy at all but leaving a pet behind is not something that a decent human being does.

Brian - you are exactly right. No decent human abandons an animal to starve.

Good morning Marte. Another prime example of why the border should be closed and those who want to enter legally can be vetted. Disgusting! Pet Katie and enjoy your day.

Wayne - I could not agree with you more.

Yes, I will pet Katie - and Jesse too.

Good morning, Marte... this just breaks my heart. But I don't know why I should be surprised... shelters all around North Carolina are chock-a-block full.

Nina - All we can do is contribute to the feed and vet bills - and adopt another one when there's room.

Marte, have not heard, but very sad, and not surprised.    I wonder if some are being sent to Denver's shelters too?

I don't know Joan. I expect when they get absolutely full they do send them on to shelters that have room. I do know they're no-kill, so they have to do something with them.

Marte Cliff - Yes. I knew about the abandoned dogs at the border. I signed up to receive emails from Governor Abbott long ago. These past few years, his hands full. He doesn't ignore the people on the border and is doing all he can humanly do with the situation out of control and ignored by the uppers. Tucker Carlson is an excellent reporter.

Good morning Marte,

I'm so glad Kathy Streib featured your post in her "Ah-ha" moments for the week, I missed it! I was not aware of this going on so glad you are getting the word out. I agree with Wayne Martin "Another prime example of why the border should be closed and those who want to enter legally can be vetted." We wouldn't be having these out of control situations.

Marte Cliff - another Border Patrol Agent died doing his job at the Border last Wednesday driving/chasing migrants in his ATV in a terrible crash on the border near Mission, TX . I am reading about incidents like this that more than likely are not making National News. It is a tragedy and a National Crisis.

Dec 13, 2022 06:41 AM
Marte Cliff

Exactly. The border should be closed. I do not understand why the gates are open to let all these illegals in.

Hi Marte,
This is so sad. As Brian England said, this is not something decent humans do.

Dec 11, 2022 05:24 AM
Marte Cliff

No they don't, Carol. Of course, decent people also don't engage in human trafficking or bring drugs into our country.

wow Marte, this is horrible & I did not know this is going on. Maybe the travelers feel the dogs protect them until they get to the border? Either way, it's not right & inhuman.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I was not aware of this issue.

Free pet adoptions are available in our area.

Sadly, many families can no longer afford to have pets.
