Not long ago on Tucker Carlson's show he brought us a segment about the dogs that illegal immigrants are abandoning at the border. They bring them along, and then when the climb on a bus to go somewhere beyond the border, they simply leave them behind.
Tucker's comment was that people who abandon their dogs to starve aren't the kind we need in this country. I agree.
There aren't just a few. There are hundreds. And they're hungry.
A group called Big Dog Rescue Ranch has stepped in to help. They have a large no-kill facility that is currently home to more than 700 dogs. Rehabilitation is part of their program, too.
Can you feature how much dog kibble and medical care it takes to sustain 700 dogs?
Dogs who are abandoned by the illegals are just part of the problem, for them, and for shelters across the country. The lady from Big Dog Rescue Ranch explained that shelters are also full because of inflation.
People who are struggling to feed their children are turning their dogs in at rescue shelters. It hurts my heart to think of it. Both for the people who are forced to make that choice and for the innocent dogs who did nothing to create the problem.
After listening to that show and visiting their website, I sent a donation to BDRR.org.
If you love dogs, or if you love someone who loves dogs, please consider doing the same. If you have a rescue near you, help them. Otherwise, Big Dog Rescue Ranch can certainly use your help.
And of course, if you have room in your home and your heart, adopt a dog who needs your love. I promise you'll get abundant love in return.
(That's my Katie above, imploring you to please give so others can eat as well as she does.)
