Hi Active Rainers. This month Jeff Dowler, CRS and Brian England our blogging tips. I am very happy to participate since I love sharing of best practices and exchanging ideas.
I provide ideas in my consulting practice and I build trust through doing seminars, short talks and listening to others. When someone asks me what I do I tell them that I help organizations get better results. When asked how do you do that, the answer can not be straight forward. I know that there are many scenarios
Tip number 1 - your blogging should create a relationship of trust between you and your readers.
I build trust by presenting scenarios, cases studies, and possible solutions. Hence blogging for me is writing about things that are real cases and offering some possible solutions.
When I started blogging in Active Rain I learned a new medium that can be easily adapted to other professions including mine. So for me it is presenting a case, an opportunity, a problem and writing about it.
I know that SEO goes up and down. I watch it but it doesn't drive me. Trust does.
Tip number 2 - Create content that answers a potential client's need.
My web site is full of topics for potential clients and I add a new one every Friday. I get discussions on the topics just like the comments I get here in the Rain. When anyone wants to know more about what I do I give them a general statement and also direct them to my blog. I do have topics that I update from time to time with updated information.
In my next post I will mention some things that I think important to stay away from with your blogging.
