Wordless Wednesday…It’s About Time

Every Fall I look forward to George Souto’s Progression of Fall Colors post as well as Ed Silva’s Litchfield County Fall Colors.

And every year I wait. When we were in Delray Beach, I didn’t expect to see anything but here in Houston, it can be hit-and-miss. Our summer was extremely dry, so I did not have high hopes for any kind of Fall colors.

However, Look what showed up the first week of December!!!

Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.

Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy day.

Hello Kathy - I know what you mean as I can feel a bit envious of the seasonal change in the scenery shared by others.  But even in Southern California, there can be subtle differences noticed.

Michael Jacobs with our up and down weather (it will be 84 today) I'm sure the trees have no idea what to do.

Dancing leaves? I had a neighbor who constantly told me my leaves were dancing over to his house and lay there.  Thanks for the Blog, have a great Wednesday. bill

Our colors are all a similar shade of gray with barren trees and shortened daylight. In short order it will be icy white and then road sludge gray. Yech.

Ed Silva the white part is fun but not the slush that comes with it.

Hi Kathy... for a while it looked like Charlotte also would not have much color this year... and then it exploded. And then, with lots of rain and wind all the leaves blew away!

Kathy Streib our colors, albeit late in the season, were a surprise here too.

Nina Hollander, Broker our temperatures have bounced around so much here that I didn't think we'd have any of the reds and oranges.

Thank you for sharing some of your area's changing colors.  I love all the fall colors, just not all of the raking.  My son and I have raked the front yard several times now.  Each time, it looks like we have done nothing two hours later.  😂

Ray Henson we don't have as many leaves as those to the north so Larry mows the front yard and that takes care of the leaves.

I enjoy Fall Kathy and all it's changing leaves. Right now most of our trees are bare with only a sprinkle of those magnificent colors left.

Hi Kathy,
Fall is my favorite time of year for the colors and the mild temperatures. It's so interesting how the various weather conditions make it different each year.

Kathy it is good to hear that you are getting to enjoy some beautiful foliage this year.  It is amazing how many leaves your trees still have.  Ours have been naked for a few weeks, and we will not see color again until late April  to early May.

George Souto I'll bet we'll be in that stage in a few weeks. Some years the trees along the banks of the creeks were amazing.
