Looking at
The Bigger Picture. . .
It's about time: As the seconds become minutes and the minutes turn into hours, the end of the year continues to grow closer. And once again, it’s coming much too quickly.
And speaking of time, maybe it’s time to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. But wait, I’m going in a bit different direction with that thought.
A preview of sorts: I can certainly understand the convenience and comfort that can come from enjoying a newly released film in your own home. However, I prefer a movie experience in person. Yes, it's the larger screen but there's more to it too.
Long ago, a trip to see a moving picture might include getting dressed up, seeing a double feature and then going to the malt shop with a date.
That was then and this is now: The other day I went to a theater that I don't regularly visit. Unlike yesteryear, the tickets that day were planned by purchasing in advance with seats pre-selected. Unfortunately, there were technical issues on that particular screen at the multiplex so the performance was cancelled. I wasn't prepared for that so "time" opened up and so did additional possibilities.
Beyond the big picture It's something more than a larger screen. And it seems kindness can be a part of that. That disruption the other day might be considered a waste of time by some but it was also a chance to see kindness in action.
Each of us can do our part each day to behave better than yesterday. We can practice this towards each other as well as to ourselves. The power we have to be considerate or share a good word can be tested at times. If successfully examined, there can be many winners. And we can do it after the holiday season comes to an end.
