What's on YOUR Agenda?

I was driving on a familiar road where I do tend to exhibit Emerson Fitipaldi-like tendencies. In my quest to get to the next light before the car sitting next to me, I forgot that where I was headed was different than where that car was headed. I didn’t realize the error of my ways until I was headed on a very familiar road, but it was not the road I needed on that particular day.

How often do we do that to ourselves? Get triggered into a very human response, racing ahead of someone else, or get lured in by tempting ads, promising to enhance our business, only to discover we’ve headed down a path we did not intend to travel.

Stay focused on your own agenda. Don’t be blinded by the people around you, no matter how fast or shiny they are. Stay on your own road. Set your own goals and find… no… claim your success. Never let someone else's voyage sideswipe your success.

Hello Monica - oh, those detours my mind takes. . .  Sometimes they seem to border on disaster but I remain grateful for the moments that turn out to be kinda delightful.

I'm grateful for those hidden gems, too, Michael. Found the world's largest radio telescope thanks to a wrong turn in West Virginia. :-)

Hi Monica- you make an excellent point. We would all be better off keeping our eyes focused on our own goals and our own paths.

I've found myself on the wrong road, but not because of someone else. Just because I wasn't paying attention and was just doing the "normal". Good point!

It's so easy to do, Kat! Life provides oh, so many distractions!

That road example is perfect. We've been there. But then the same happens i our workday or in pursuit of a goal.

Good morning Monica,

I'm so glad Kathy Streib featured your post in her "Ah-ha" Moments for the week as I missed it! The road example is a perfect analogy. We would all be better off keeping our eyes focused on our own goals and our own paths.

Hi Monica:

This is a good analogy. It's important to pay attention and focus on the path you want to be on - your agenda, a destination, reaching a goal - and not letting something else or someone else distract us if at all possible. But it happens now and then doesn't it?!

Jeff
