Holiday Light Displays in Carlsbad 2022
I enjoy seeing the holiday light displays in our neighborhood, and around Carlsbad including the Village at this time of year.
In addition to what we see on buildings and at the shopping centers, it’s impressive to see what some private homeowners do with their homes. We have white lights on several small trees on our front patio and lighted wreaths on the front door and fence, but that’s it!
TWIN INNS - This is a favorite of mine in Carlsbad Village. I really enjoy how the Twin Inns on Carlsbad Boulevard are lit up every year, especially the palm trees. I haven't seen them at night yet in 2022 but no doubt they will impress again. This photo is from a prior year.
I always enjoy seeing the Holiday Tree at the Carlsbad Village Faire (300 Carlsbad Village Drive just west of the railroad tracks), even more so when it’s all lit up. The 37th Annual Lighting was Sunday December 4th (I missed this due to being out of town).
I enjoy the white lights in the trees lining State Street in Carlsbad Village between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue every year. And the holiday window displays around the Village are always fun.I Haven't visited the Village in the evening yet this year...
Legoland Carlsbad offers abundant lights, with a 30-foot LEGO Christmas tree with LEGO ornaments at Fun Town, seasonal music, live entertainment, and so much more. The festivities are through January 8, 2023. There are plenty of things to explore at this special place for the holidays including Kid’s New Year’s Eve on the 31st. Check out their website for information on tickets, hotel stays and more. Advance reservations are required.
Plenty of homeowners decorate for the Christmas holiday. And Carlsbad has several homes that are over-the-top for all to enjoy. Here are some well-known displays around town:
The holiday display known as the Carlsbad Christmas House is located at 7607 Romeria Street in La Costa. This home is near the intersection of Romeria and La Costa Avenue in south Carlsbad, east of El Camino Real. You can enjoy this home’s decorations through the 26th from 5 – 10 pm nightly (unless it’s raining). Check out the snow machine! And feel free to bring canned goods to donate – there’s a food donation bin in the driveway! There’s a community party on December 17th, too, with all sorts of goodies.
6646 Elegant Tern Place in South Carlsbad, is in the Tesoro de Aviara community. You can enjoy this display from December 3rd until January 3rd from 5 – 9 pm. There are treats for kids and a free Santa’s mailbox (Santa writes to every child), plus Santa will visit on December 18th. Here’s a video I saw on YouTube from 2020.
3520 Corte Ramon (photo link) is in the Meadowood community sandwiched between Melrose Drive and Rancho Santa Fe Road. The display can be seen through December 31, daily from dark until 10 pm. This year’s theme is SpongeBob SquarePants (no video posted yet).
For other areas besides Carlsbad, here's a list of light displays in San Diego County.

If you are in California you can do a search for your community on the California Christmas Lights site, with 302 houses with verified displays in 129 cities.
