Henry Ford was right!

So, I do not consider myself the authority on making videos for my business. And still many people come to me for advice. I guess they just haven't come as far as I have (although I see I have so far yet to go). And month by month I learn more. Usually from making mistakes.

So my latest lesson Has been in time management.  This year I went from making 3 or 4 videos a month to making 14 to 15 videos per month. What I learned this year is Henry Ford was right - make an assembly line. I don't make all my videos in 1 day. However, I make many elements at 1 time.

When I create my intro graphics, I make them for 13 to 15 months at a time. Now when I tape my video introductions, I tape 9 of my 10 market report intros in 1 day. That is because they all get their information on the same day - the 1st. The 10th report gets its information on anywhere from the 4th to the 8th.

By doing this assembly line process, I spend far less time in setting up and tearing down. I actually used to set up for each and every introduction. I'm now even trying to tape multiple episodes of my podcast on the same day as well.

So, as you look to 2023, think about what you do multiple times a month or in a year. Think about how you can do many of those all at the same time. Then take the time you saved, and take your Model T for a drive.

Hi Rocky - that makes a lot of sense!  I applied this to the holiday cakes I made one year. I made about 6 batches and, for example, grated all of the carrots I needed, measured out the raisins, etc. I found that I could make a cake in a lot less time.

Good morning Rocky. Henry was a thinking man for sure. And, he had much to offer besides the automobile. Enjoy your day.

I agree about doing as many things as possible at the same time, to cut down on the total time required. We have to use our time wisely!

Having a template or assembly line to work off of and add to with each new video or post certainly makes things a lot easier and more efficient.  Merry Christmas!

Hello Rocky - we can continue to learn much from practices of the past.  Over time, the process becomes a work-in-process as well as in progress.  The assembly of ideas seems to connect all sorts of things.

I try to record at least 3 or 4 episodes of my podcast in 1 sitting and want to have at least 10-15 episodes in reserve in case I get too busy (or the studio is booked when I am free). It's the only way to make things work seamlessly.
