Thank You for the December 2022 Challenge
In December AR members were challenged to provide tips on blogging – things to do and things not to do. And they responded generously with their wisdom and advice.
Thank you to the 37 bloggers who submitted posts, as well to everyone who read these posts and commented. Over 60 posts were shared with a wealth of advice from those who know about blogging…our ActiveRain Members. It’s essentially a book about blogging tips based on years of experience and success!
Here’s just a SMALL taste of the advice about what to do:
Just get started – stop putting it off! (That’s perhaps easier said than done)
Be consistent in your blogging…but it doesn’t have to be daily
Know your target audience and provide value to them
Use your authentic voice – it’s a conversation with your reader, so talk
Write posts that are evergreen
Determine the purpose of your post(s) – set a goal for each
Use good quality photos (your own, or those that are copyright-free)
PROOFREAD before you hit that submit button, or have someone help you
Read other AR posts for ideas, style and learning
Play nice in the sandbox – don’t throw sand at others
Be an ambassador for your area/community – share what you know!
We don’t know it all but you should be the “source of the source”
The list of BLOGGING DON’T DO’S was pretty impressive, too!
Don’t vent and be negative – the term “Debby Downer” was used a lot
No plagiarizing – photos, words, etc. Many posts mentioned this no no!
Avoid the dreaded wall of words
Don’t be a braggart and avoid blatant self-promotion
Avoid certain topics, like politics, religion and other controversial topics
Don’t use a ghostwriter or publish canned content everyone else is using
Avoid sloppiness, poor formatting, bad grammar, and spelling errors
Avoid discussing transactions, especially the problems
Don’t be a “geyser of gibberish” - don’t you love this quote?!
You’ll find links to all the submitted posts in the comment section of the December Challenge Post in case you missed them. Or perhaps need a reminder about what to do, and not do, in your blogging so you’ll have more success.
Many also shared their posts in the AR Challenges Group.
The Challenge posts are also great information for those who are starting out in the blogging world, or who don’t have much blogging experience.
The December Challenge – An AR Guide to Blogging was a great reminder of the abundant learning opportunities afforded everyone who participates on AR, AND the generosity of our community in sharing what they know about so many things…blogging and otherwise!
A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed!
