Naples Community Orchestra will host its 30th season opener on Saturday, January 21, 3:00 p.m. at Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive in Naples.

The concert will feature the debut of Alvin Ho, the new artistic director at NCO and who also serves as assistant conductor with the Naples Philharmonic.

The program will feature music from Mozart. In addition, the orchestra will perform a piece by Ari Fisher reflecting the theme of hope, poignancy and recovery.

Fisher has won numerous film scoring competitions and collaborated on a variety of projects ranging from feature-length films to video game soundtracks. He is co-founder, music director, and lead composer of ZREO Studios and ZREO: Second Quest. His concert works have been performed in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, and across the United States. His music has been featured across the nation in television ads.

The music was commissioned and sponsored by Barbara Lounsbury, a longtime leader within the NCO.

Naples Community Orchestra’s 2023 performance schedule also includes concerts on March 4 and April 22. On Saturday, March 4, the second concert will include light classics from Johann Strauss as well as Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms. In addition, the show will feature Bella Gutshtein on piano for Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. The final show on Saturday, April 22 will include Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture. In addition, the concert will feature Adam Satinsky on cello for Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.

The season series is influenced by the community partnerships the orchestra has forged with ArtisNaples, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and Collier County Public Schools (CCPS). The orchestra welcomes the participation of student musicians from both FGCU and CCPS high schools. NCO’s partnership with ArtisNaples provides musicians for conducting, sectional rehearsals, soloists, and rehearsal and event space.
