Today's Word on Probate Real Estate is Abatement.
Abatement.: A proportional diminution or reduction of the pecuniary legacies, when there are not sufficient funds to pay them in full. In plain English, pecuniary legacies are usually a gift of money in a will. So, when the funds in the estate are not enough to pay the beneficiary those funds, they may be reduced.
